What’s New for the 2024 BMW M3
For 2024, BMW unleashes the M3 CS. It gains even more power and shaves off 75 pounds. The M3 CS also features unique suspension tuning and comes equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD), as well as an M Dynamic drive mode that’s exclusive to the CS.
Design
The 2024 M3 announces its arrival with its large front grille. The M3 CS features a unique border accent line around the grille, as well as black stripes on the hood. The light alloy wheels on the CS feature Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires. The M3 features staggered wheel sizes. So you get 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels as standard equipment, as well as a selection of available 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels.
Powertrain
The beating heart of the M3 is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that puts out 473 horsepower. The M3 Competition features a 503-horsepower version of this engine, while the M3 CS cranks up output to 543 horsepower. The base M3 routes power through a six-speed manual transmission, and unfortunately for some performance enthusiasts, the Competition and CS are only offered with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The M3 routes power to the rear wheels, while the Competition is available with xDrive all-wheel drive. The CS comes standard with AWD.
The M3 can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. The M3 Competition can do the same run in 3.4 seconds and the M3 Competition xDrive will bolt from zero to 60 in 3.4 seconds. BMW claims the M3 CS will hit 60 in just 3.4 seconds.
EPA fuel economy estimates for the M3 are 16 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined. The CS returns 15 mpg city, 22 highway, 18 combined. The M3 requires premium fuel.
Interior
The M3 has a functional and modern interior, thanks to the fact that it's based on the refined 3 Series sedan. Standard features include leather upholstery, an Anthracite headliner, aluminum trim, heated front seats, and three-zone automatic climate control. The power-adjustable seats are heavily bolstered to keep you firmly planted through hard corners.
Technology
The 2024 M3's dash is dominated by a massive curved display that houses the fully digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. It is also controllable via a rotary dial in the center console. The iDrive infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Safety
The M3 comes equipped with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Pricing
At the time of this writing, the 2024 BMW M3 has a base MSRP of $76,000. The M3 Competition starts at $80,200, and the M3 CS is expected to start at $118,700. The BMW M3 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty.
