The 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid enriches the competitive Sonata sedan with a fuel-efficient gas-electric hybrid powertrain. It provides all the benefits of the gas-only Sonata sedan, including comfortable five-passenger seating and a conventional trunk with 16 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk (same as the conventionally powered Sonata).
Trims for the Sonata Hybrid are Blue, SEL, and Limited. The Blue trim is the most efficiency-focused trim and features cloth upholstery and manual front seats. It does include some creature comforts, such as dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, a USB port, HD radio, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Moving up to the SEL adds power-adjustable front seats (eight-way driver, four-way passenger), wireless device charging, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, an additional USB port, and a 12-speaker premium Bose sound system.
The Limited features leather upholstery, synthetic leather dash material, ambient cabin lighting, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and Hyundai’s Dynamic Voice Recognition System. The Limited trim also includes a fully digital instrument panel, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and Hyundai’s Smart Park remote parking feature.
The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine working with an electric motor. Together, they make a combined 192 horsepower, routed to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The Sonata Hybrid also features a Sport mode for more spirited driving.
The most efficient version of the Sonata Hybrid is the Blue trim, returning 50 mpg city, 54 highway, and 52 combined. The SEL and Limited trims both return 45 mpg city, 51 highway, and 47 combined.
Standard driver-assistance features on the Sonata Hybrid include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Sonata Hybrid also comes with Safe Exit Assist, which can sense approaching vehicles and alert occupants to help them avoid exiting into potential hazards.
Moving up to the Limited trim adds front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, a head-up display, and a 360-degree parking monitor.
Base MSRP for the 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is $27,950 for the Blue trim. The SEL starts at $31,300, and the Limited starts at $36,250. The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is backed by a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty for the hybrid powertrain and battery pack.
