Flagship sedan opulence meets dynamic performance in the 2023 Audi S8. The brand’s largest sedan feels more like a sports car thanks to a potent powertrain and an advanced suspension system. The S8 provides plenty of passenger space no matter where you sit, and its trunk offers 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space, accessed via a power open and close trunk lid. For 2023, the S8 now comes standard with the eye-catching Valcona leather upholstery and includes unique stitching designs. Aside from some other small items, the S8 is largely a carryover.
The 2023 Audi S8 is offered in a single, well-appointed trim. In addition to that fancy leather, standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, soft-closing doors, a panoramic sunroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, ambient LED lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, and a Bang & Olufsen premium stereo system. The S8 also comes equipped with steel pedals, carbon fiber interior details, and power-deploying rear- and side-window sun shades.
The Audi S8 features a fully digital instrument panel, which Audi calls the Virtual Cockpit. It also has a center stack that consists of an 8.6-inch lower screen and a 10.1-inch upper screen. The lower screen operates climate controls, vehicle settings, and vehicle dynamics controls. The upper screen is home to the infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. Wireless device charging, proximity keyless entry, and even a touchpad that responds to drawing letters with your finger round out the long list of standard features on the S8.
Standout options and packages include an upgraded 23-speaker stereo system, a seat-back entertainment system, rear USB ports, and a rear wall-style power outlet.
The 2023 Audi S8 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that works with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Together, it makes 563 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to Quattro all-wheel drive through an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic with manual tap-shift mode and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. This potent powertrain allows the S8 to rocket from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. EPA estimates for fuel economy are 14 mpg city, 23 highway, and 17 combined. The S8 requires premium fuel.
More than just brute, straight-line power, the S8 features adaptive air suspension, four-wheel steering, ventilated disc brakes with red calipers, and a sport rear differential. This chassis can be further enhanced with a predictive active suspension.
Standard safety features on the S8 include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, and front and rear parking sensors.
The 2023 Audi S8 has a base MSRP of $117,500. The S8 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty.
