I liked the power, sports mode, acceleration, and handling, and the color combination was great. I'm not a fan of the center console but I have seem much worse. There is large trunk space. Maintenance costs can be pricey depending on what is being done.May 18, 2015

I bought this car because I was trying to cut back on my auto expenses... I've owned a lot of cars and when I was selling my Camaro Convertible, saw this and figured I would test it out... has the X-drive, so should be good for our New England winters... Well, no snow yet, so no comment on that... but in general I bought it because it was priced cheap! a 2009 with just 40k miles on it...
So I bought it and let me preface this by saying I've always had 2 cars so like my luxury cars to be luxury and my sports cars to be sporty... the issue I have always found with BMW and still see it is that they are trying to be both in one package... so it handles better than most cars of the same size - but WHO CARES?? I'm not buying a full size sedan to take it to track day... the ride tends to be stiff so you feel every pothole, etc...
As I said in the title - is it just me? I don't understand the BMW mystique and quit frankly if I hadn't bought it priced right, I would have probably gone with a new Implala over this - BMW just doesn't do it for me and I keep hoping it will, but just can't seem to get there :-(Dec 19, 2014

Love the car, it has the speed and plenty of space, No cons about it. It is very relaxing driving it. The sound system is very nice as well. Basically this car has everything i was looking for. I recently bought this as a used car with only 40k miles in it... And got a great price, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gone with it... But I figured I will only be using it for a year or two, so will probably be able to get out of it for the same price I bought it for... So, those are the reasons I bough... As for the car itself, I think it gives a decent ride, but is pretty stiff... The seats I like because they are a bit higher than my other car, so more chair like than laid out like in my CTS... But I just have a hard time with some of the things that are really 'the German way' when it comes to makeing cars... Like the seats - feels like there is no padding and the leather is rough... My issues with BMW in the past are still there... I mean are those seats for a luxury car? Nope... They are more set up for a sports car... But I have sports cars and will drive those when I want a tight ride... I 5 series BMW is not a sports car regardless of the trim you get on it, so why not make it more of what it is, a full size sedan that is a luxury car... BMW is so caught up in their THINKING they are the ultimate driving machine that they are always trying to be everything - sports, luxurym etc - all in one and to me they just miss the mark...
So... To sum up what I think of the BMW, I think there is not better way to state it than to say I just got it to have a cheap daily driver for 1-2 years and I am already counting the months till I trade it in!Apr 20, 2014

Combination of luxury and Performance sedan. Car is great to drive and has good backseat room as well as cargo room in trunk. Great gas mileage on highway for a 360 HP sedan. Put the car in Sport Mode and you will enjoy the low end torque in the city as well. Fun to drive.Apr 14, 2014

Firstly, the correct car was not present in the search on this thing - the actual car is the BMW 520d SE 2008.
This is the ultimate driving machine. A 2.0Tdi going 0-60 in 8 seconds is unbelievable, and this is down to BMW. They are German, they have years of experience and they do build technically great cars. Handling is sharp for such a big car and the breaks are superb!
Needless to say the build quality from BMW is excellent, no problems to report! The interior of the car is very nice, but nothing really special, little features like the steering wheel moving up and down as you get in and out are pretty cool! The exterior is not to everyone's taste, personally i like it, and i am very glad it doesn't have the standard wheels on it, they are horrible!
Excellent mpg for such a big car, if it is driven sensibly you can get 48-55mpg!
The car is awesome to drive, even if it is on the large side, and the looks of jealousy and hate you get are quite cool lol!

it is a fast car with big engine. allthough the price is too much it is worth it. its fast acceleration top speed 200mph smooth steering. maintanence is expensive because big engine uses a l of fuel. i love it Jan 31, 2009

What problems can exist without generating a code?
Starting at 40 mph and accelerating the car begins to shake. When letting off the gas, it is smooth. It appears that at about 2000 rpm and accelerating or going up a hill the engine seems to start chugging. There was a code for a bad fuel pump but then that was replaced at the shop. That didn’t solve the problem. What could cause this and not trigger the engine light or generate a code?
