The RX 350 is the third generation of the RX series, a crossover between luxury sedans and SUVs, introduced by Lexus in the late 1990s. The original RXs were built off the Toyota Camry/Lexus ES platform. The crossover concept was a quick success, and the RX soon became the top seller for Lexus.
Throughout the decade, Lexus incrementally dropped larger engines into the RX. The first was a 220 horsepower 3.0 liter V-6 and the latest, at 3.5 liters, made 270 horsepower. The RX 350 had 47 more horses than the 2005 model. Like all the prior models, the new RX was available in two trims: a 4WD or a FWD. It's success can be attributed to the combination of car-like ride and fuel economy with some of the conveniences of an SUV.
Common complaints about the RX dealt with the SUV attributes which were absent. The RX was never touted as an off road performer. It's low ground clearance and car-like suspension makes trailblazing a little nerve racking. The RX did offer Lexus luxury, handling, and interior comfort. Factors like the unique body style and vehicle niche have attracted many satisfied buyers.

This Toyota MDT had open his own shop in 1988. I was honored by John Roberts who brought Lexus into Austin, Texas, when he asked me to hire his shop manager and find a few Toyota Techs that wanted to work on this new line. We have owned many Lexus RXs from that first year. I will always think the first generation of RX300>1998-2003 is my favorite. But the second generation of Lexus RX was the RX350> 2004-2008 bigger with more power. Fact> My wife an I are alive because we were in our new 2003 Rx Awd on US281 when a Ford Truck came from know where hitting us Head-On and we are alive today because of good design,. There will always be a Toyota and or Lexus in our garage as we have now with a RX350Awd & a Sequoia Limited 4X4 Apr 30, 2024

Fantastic SUV but age is showing on the interior dash console with cracks, etc. Also issue with the headlight getting a lot of condensation inside them with a heavy rain or car wash. Lastly - bluetooth only works for phone calls and not streaming music/pod cast which is disappointing. Feb 03, 2022

Great features for a 2007, good handling and great safety features. I rate it ahead of Bmw and Mercedes SUVs but tied or just slightly behind the Acura SUV. You are positioned high in drivers seat so you can have good vision of the road and surroundings. Great legroom and comfort in back row seat. Big enough for three adults. The Lexus RX Line is one of the most dependable vehicles of the last 20 yrs. Meaning the Drivetrain doesnt breakdown as long as its maintained correctly. The RX350 is very comfortable and smooth to drive. The only things I dont like are the lack of extra power ports and the way the center console storage functions. Other than that these are fantastic used cars, so long as they had been maintained. Check under the Oil Cap to see if theres any build up. Have a mechanic look over the suspension and brake systems. If those are all good then its a solid bet it can run straight to between 250K - 300k miles. Aug 06, 2021

My RX 350 has the premium luxury package and is fully loaded. It’s incredibly advanced for a 2007.
I was looking for a used RX 350 as a car to take in the snow and haul cargo. Every one I saw was badly mistreated; beaten up, worn out, extremely high mileage. Mine is a perfect Neptune Blue Mica serviced every 5000 miles by the same dealer for all these years. Only 75,000 miles now. I think it’s a great deal because I have a car I can keep for at least 200,000 more miles and several more years. The car also holds it’s value because I was surprised that even badly worn and beaten models even older than mine and with higher mileage seem to sell for eight or $9000. I paid about $9500 because mine was the dealership owner’s personal vehicle and he didn’t need it anymore. It has practically every luxury feature you could want including real wood, leather, nav, Bluetooth, but, one thing missing is a feature where the headlights turn on when you unlock the doors with the key fob. I’m shocked this wasn’t an option and yet radar cruise control was for 2007. I’d compare the RX 350 to the Buick Enclave, though slightly smaller. The use of materials seems about the same, the drive, the quietness, the reliability. Mar 20, 2021

The dash was cracked from the passenger side to the driver’s side. The radio didn’t work. The TPS was flashing. The driver’s side back bumper needed clips installed because the bumper was loose.Mar 13, 2021

I liked the ride and drive of the vehicle. It afforded the space of a SUV, but the feel of a luxury sedan. Overall the vehicle was great in every situation. I would recommend it to those that want a small luxury SUV.May 08, 2014

Hard to fault this car - bought it used with 60,000 miles and it drove like new. Seats are luxurious, adjustable and comfortable for long trips, performance, room and gas mileage seem way above average for such a heavy vehicle. Steering feel is amazing and generally controls are of the highest quality. Mine lacks a lot of the high-tech stuff like cell phone integration and GPS, but since we have better GPSs on our phones it's no longer a big deal. Cargo room is very good.Mar 02, 2014

I can't say enough good things about this car. The ride is smooth, comfortable and quiet. It's been great around town and for long family trips. Averaging 19-20 miles/gallon for city driving certainly puts it high in class for an SUV. We added headrest DVD players which have saved us on long trips with the kids. Dec 19, 2012

If u ask me about performance since its a lexus its quite fast acceleration is pretty good for a crossover. Top speed is limited to 180 KM/h in Asia. Its handling feels like a sedan's because of the rack and pinon steering wheel. The exterior of this cars i think is based on a kiwi because thats the logo of the car and the interior space is quite similar to an rdx or murano i think and the int has fake wood trim and leather and its very comfortable. overall i would say its a good car although I dont really care about mpg or anything of that sort.Aug 09, 2008
