The Honda Civic is one of the most popular cars on the market, with good reason. It's economical and efficient, with sharp styling and a high-quality interior. It also brings forth features that have been rarities in its segment, such as available navigation. In short, the Civic elevates the standards for the compact car market.
The 2007 model year is part of the eighth generation of the Civic, which was redesigned for the 2006 model year, and carried over the following year. Honda and the Civic's reputation are such that these cars hold their value for years. Even if you pay a bit more than than you would for the average small car price, you’ll be rewarded with a top-notch car that will hold its value well.

The eighth-generation Civic was the first to move away from the traditional three-box design for the sedan and coupe, replacing it with the “jellybean” silhouette. The Civic set the bar for design in this segment.
Inside, the Civic features a unique “two-tier” instrument panel that is a major departure from conventional design. Perhaps inspired by video games, it is mostly digital, with status bars replacing dials, and it has a large digital speedometer. The upper tier of the instrument panel blends into the dash and flows into the center console.
Trims for the Civic, include the DX, the DX-VP (Value Package), LX, EX, and EX-L. 2007 also marks the return of the sporty Si trim. The DX is the base trim and provides a manual seat with height adjustment, manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and power windows. The DX has an extremely basic four-speaker audio setup and 15-inch steel wheels with plastic covers.
The DX-VP or “Value Package” adds upgrades the stereo to a 160-watt 4-speaker setup with AM/FM/MP3 head unit and a CD player. The DX-VP also adds air conditioning.
The LX features larger 16-inch wheels but they are still “steelies” with plastic covers. It also adds an anti-theft system with remote entry, floor mats, and a USB/iPod/auxiliary port to the system, which allows it to play music and connect to a mobile device.
If you want 16-inch alloy wheels, look to the EX trim, which also gets 4-wheel disc brakes, a power moonroof, an exterior temperature indicator, and a 12-volt ACC power outlet (in addition to the one that comes standard on the DX, DX-VP, and LX). The rear seat of the EX sedan gains a fold-out center armrest with cup holders, while the EX coupe’s stereo is upgraded to a 6-speaker 360-watt system.
When shopping Honda’s, keep an eye out for the “L” in the trim designation if you are looking for leather seating. In addition to the leather upholstery, the EX-L adds an expanded center console, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and heated/power side mirrors. The EX and EX-L are available with a touch screen navigation system, which was a rarity among compact cars for the time.
The Si is the performance model and has other upgrades, such as 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless trunk access, a seven-speaker, 360-watt premium stereo, and a power moonroof.

Most trims of the Civic are powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, putting out 140 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. It routes power to the front wheels through either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.
The sporty Civic Si comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 197 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to 6-speed manual transmission and routes power to the front wheels through a limited-slip differential that enhances the performance driving experience. The Si also has stiffer springs and sway bars, which contribute to improved handling. The ride of the Si is not so stiff that you can’t drive comfortably, and so it's a fantastic choice as a daily drivable performance car.
But if you don’t need the performance of the Si, the standard engine in the rest of the lineup makes adequate acceleration. It won’t blow your hair back, but it will be enough to get you up to highway speeds and make passing maneuvers reliably every day.
The standard engine with the standard transmission returns 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, 29 combined. With the automatic transmission, fuel economy is posted at 25/36/29. The Civic Si and its slightly larger engine returns fuel economy of 20/29/23.

Despite the unique instrument panel layout, the Civic has rather conventional controls. For all models without the touchscreen, the Civic has straightforward radio and climate controls, with large, easy-to-locate dials and helpful buttons. Hop in, and there’s little to no learning curve for the center stack.
The Civic has a highly functional cabin, with trays and bins in the center console and center stack. The doors have decently sized cargo bins, and there are small cubbies to the left of the steering wheel in the dash. These could be used for a phone, a wallet, or keys.
The sedan has decent rear legroom for passengers, and you can reasonably seat four adults for a couple-hour road trip. The coupe has nearly 5 inches less legroom, and getting into the rear seats makes it less comfortable as well. So long as the front passenger is short enough that they can slide their seat up a bit, an adult can sit in the rear seat.
The Civic has 12.0 cubic feet of trunk space in the sedan, and 11.5 cubic feet of trunk space in the coupe. These numbers are less than that of the 2007 Toyota Corolla, which has 13.6 cubic feet of trunk space.

As mentioned, the base car has little more than four speakers. Other models have the upgraded stereo with AM/FM/CD capabilities, as well as a USB port for mobile music device connection.
The optional touchscreen navigation system is a rare feature in the 2007 car market. It's admittedly basic, and it may be worth waiting for the technology to advance before splurging on this feature.

Standard safety features on the 2007 Honda Civic include 4-wheel antilock brakes (front discs and rear drums), electronic brake-force distribution, and a full array of front- and side-impact airbags. Moving up to the EX adds a remote anti-theft alarm system and upgrades the rear brakes from drums to solid disc brakes.
This car does not come with a reversing camera, but the system does have a port to add an aftermarket camera. If you purchase from a Honda dealer, it may be able to reliably install one.

There are less expensive compact cars than the Honda Civic, but you’d be hard-pressed to find such a high-quality small car for the price. The Honda Civic drives well, is incredibly reliable, and it is efficient by 2007's standards.
The Toyota Corolla gives the Civic a run for its proverbial money in many areas, but Honda’s compact sedan remains a high-quality choice any way you slice it.

Love the gas milage, the ease of repair and the super reliability of this model. Wish it had a leather seat option and it would be just about perfect. Great car, looks good, sounds good and saves gas for the performance it gives. I like that they add some luxury into it and they added Voice Command and Navigation system. Solid! I am a spirited driver and push this little 4 cylinder when I can. Smooth for an 8,000 rpm redline...no significant buzzing. Had up to 124 mph with more to spare...just haven't had a clear stretch of road to push it to the limit. Light, solid, powerful enough. Very comfortable for a daily driver and on long trips...I have registered over 33 mpg on two trips across the country; average 26 mpg with a 60%city/40%hyw commute. The best car I have ever had in 26 years of driving and over 20 vehicles. It will be tough to part with this car when the time comes :)Mar 12, 2012

FN2 Type R GT SAT NAV + HST. Not as agressive sounding than the old EP3 but its matches its performance by a fraction of second. For the split second differance you get so much more sprec and features. Its so much more of an everyday car than the previous version. Its suppose to have a hard drive but having previouslty driven the ST it sooooo doesn't! so far i cannot fault it. The civic has come a long way and this model pushes it into a new league.
The only thing that is missing is like what is mentioned on Top Gear...the indipendant rear suspension that the older model, but unless you're lucky enough to drive it on a track everyday you cannot tell.

It's made in Thailand, 1.8 Ex. This is the best Civic ever. It has fast acceleration, superb handling with excellent build quality. The design is perfect for a small Japanese 4 doors car. appearance- first thing everybody says when they get in the car is the dash is long.
cost of ownership- i can average around 28 hp when im nice to it.

I bought it new. So far, only required the usual maintenance. Gas mileage is awesome. Sporty-sleek appearance, nice body. The interior could be a lil more interesting. It's too plain for me. Not so much fun, unless the horse power is way higher. I love this car, the performance for a car that has only 201bhp is amazing! The brakes are big than the old EP3, but they do take some time to get some heat through them. 0-62 in 6.6 sec's and a top speed of a 153mph the handing is spot on, only a couple times has the VSA come on when the roads are wet. Build quality well its a Honda!!! Interior has improved, when sitting in the car and when your on the move it makes you want to drive it more and more...Exterior well look at it, its a space ship.
12k mileage about 32mpg.
BMW's 330, VXR, ST's, MEGANES, AUDI S3 and TT's all get blow away by the iVTEC zone!!!!!!!!

This car might not generate straight line numbers like its turbo competition, but it is fun and involving to drive. I've driven the Mazda and VW, and didn't think their seats or shifters were even close to those of the Honda. On the street, I can't even make use of the full performance of this car for more than a few seconds at a time, but it is always nice to have great seats, lag free throttle response, light weight, good gas mileage, zero defects, cheap maintenance, and build integrity. Why get a maintenance headache, laggy turbo in order to accelerate a bit quicker even less of the time?
I've had this car now for almost 2 years, and so far it has needed two oil changes and a tire rotation. Other than gas, I think I've spent about $150 on it. Gas mileage is about 24 around town on crummy California gas and low 30s on the highway. Not exciting mileage, but I can't resist using wide throttle openings and high rpm while commuting.
I've read criticism of the steering feel of this car in Car and Driver. Having come to this Honda because of the degradation of German quality and taste, I can only compare the steering to that of the BMWs, Mini Cooper, Porsche, Audis, Mercedes, and Jetta that I had before it. While you can tell that it is FWD when the pedal is flat in first or second, its steering is quick, nicely weighted, and never leaves me wondering what the front tires are doing. Also, the lack of torque relative to turbos probably also means that it won't need the front end work that people see in their second year of Mazdaspeed and GTi ownership. I'm very happy with this car.
* - update: After more than 4.5 years, the Civic Si continues to give me good service. It still hasn't needed a single repair. The only expense worth noting has been a set of tires this year. When I bought this car, my intention was to drive it for a couple years and then probably go back to the Germans. instead, German cars get less and less interesting to me as an enthusiast and more and more focused on appealing to people who lease them for their status and gadgets. If I needed a new car now, the first one I'd test drive would be the new Civic Si sedan. I still drive it from time to time just for the joy of driving it.Dec 09, 2008

I had researched several different
vehicles in this before purchasing this
one right off the truck. Alternatives
were the Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa,
Nissan Altima, Pontiac G5, VW Golf,
Toyota Corolla, and the Toyota Matrix.
All of these are fine in their own ways
but none can quite compare to the Civic
outside of the Golf. The Civic has
better handling on sharper corners, an
example of this, there is a certain
corner that I take that the entry speed
is 55 in the other cars, the Golfs was 60
and the Civic was able to do it flat at
72 mph. Acceleration is a bit lacking
though and it feels as though it could do
better but is just not quite tuned right.
The interior is roomy, I am six foot five
and can fit in it comfortably... the one
complain I have is that the handbrake
pokes into my leg if I lean it there.
Fuel economy is excellent though. I have
been able to get well over 40 mpg
traveling on the highway at 72 mph. In
town it is cut back a bit to around 30
mpg due to stopping and going and
passing. The car is fairly light on its
feet but provides good traction in rainy
weather. I will say that it does not do
well in snow and ice; where I was only
able to do 25 mph, other cars were
passing me by at 45. Some people don't
like the digital speedometer/fuel gauge
but I have come to prefer it, it is
strategically placed in my line of sight
and I can easily concentrate on my speed
as well as the road ahead.
I dislike the fact the the front pillars
come forward so far as to obstruct my
view when taking a corner and the road
noise can be a bit pronounced. I do like
the looks of the car although they are a
bit French and reflect a lot you would
see in a Citroen. I have put nearly
thirty thousand miles on it in the past
year and it has not been in the shop one
time. The top speed is supposedly
limited to 125 mph but I have seen my
speedometer at 138 which is not bad at

Performance based it's a great car, it has good build quality and it's a fast and fun car to drive. The appearance is gret on the s-types and the interior is of good quality but a bit bland to my liking. It's heavy on juice in the city but out on the road it's better. I love my car!Oct 10, 2008

This is a fantastic car, it handles like a go cart and acceleration is amazing. Without a doubt a fun car to drive.
It can be gentle on fuel or as vicious as you like.

This is a great car! This car is just amazing all around. It has a good amount of power for such a small car, and drives really well with that power. Those two factors combined are what make this car an excellent choice for someone that wishes to spend less than 20K for a car. I own a beautiful Red 2007 Honda Civic. There aren't any compact cars that can at all compete with this car in either interior or exterior styling. It's digital display is especially a unique feature that is only available with a Honda Civic. Also, I tend to get between 27-30 city mpg and 37-40 highway mpg. So, if you want a beautiful car with exceptional performance that will last a very, VERY long time, I would definitely go with the Honda Civic.Jul 28, 2008

The '07 Civic 4dr is one of the most solid cars I've owned. It's not a beast in terms of performance, but it does handle pretty good and the pickup is decent. It doesn't cost too much to maintain, but is very fun to drive (especially with the sunroof open!). Overall, I love it!Jul 13, 2008

I don't believe you could find a better car for the money. With the money you save on fuel it makes it even more affordable along with cheap insurance. I parked it outside all winter and it never failed to start. Very reliable, no problems.Apr 27, 2008

Civic Si Returns in 2007, with the addition of a 4 door sedan alongside the 2 door model. 4 door Si, have a better weight distrubtion and ride better than the 2 door supringsly.
The vehicle is very rev happy, eager to rev, and shifter and shift pattern is similar to the 6 speed found in the S2000. Vehicle only comes in manual transmission form like traditional Si vehicles of the past. Honda stays true to the Si philosophy with the 7th generation civic and 4th iteration of the Civic Si model. What users have asked
2007 Civic Hybrid completely dead except of 4-way flasher and horn, Batter good.
Car has sat for a few weeks so I thought it was a dead battery. Could not jump start it. Had battery tested and fully charged. Nothing has power except for horn and flashers. When I turn ignition switch all the way I hear a soft click in trunk/back of car. When I take the key out of ignition switch if feels warm. Thought maybe it was a bad ground but since horn/flashers work I guess not. One other detail, when ignition is all the way on (second position) flashers and horn work separately. Any other position flashers and horn turn on together when I turn on flashers. Any suggestions where to start? Thanks in advance.

Why is my 2007 civic still misfiring
Have 07 coupe 1.8 Manuel car went into limp mode catalytic converter was the issue in the obd2 swapped it still had misfires on all cylinders so changed spark plugs injectors and coils 2 misfires went away but still have cylinders 2 and 4 misfiring really confused on what it could be regular maintenance always done 143k miles on odometer no burning oil either drives fine until it goes into limp mode any advice ?
