In 2007, Chevrolet will be adding a hybrid choice to its line of Equinoxes, although it is sticking with its 3.4-liter, V6 engine for its standard cars. The little SUV gets good mileage for a truck: 19/25, city/highway, just slightly under most mini-vans.
Various trims offer changes in safety equipment and convenience packages, but the performance remains fairly consistent due to the availability of only one type of engine. The biggest of the small SUV's (Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4), it has a rear seat that can be adjusted forward or backward for an eight-inch differential.

We bought a 2023 Chevy Equinox in July with only 4000 miles on it. For the past month, there has been a mildew mold smell. My husband noticed the passenger floorboard was wet a couple of weeks ago, We had a lot of rain on Friday. Today when I got in the drivers side floorboard was sopping wet. Oct 01, 2023

Love the looks of it. Love the instrument panel. Very roomy. only put 4 k on the car so I hope it last me a long time. The oil burning is internal there are no leaks no wet areas around the engine or underneath no smoking or bad smells from the car at all. Its not the end of the world but it would be nice if it didn't use any oil. Still trying to trouble shoot it.Apr 05, 2015

This car all around is a great car! I wish Chevy still made a similar model as the newer 2010 Equinox isn't an equinox at all and it doesn't have near the comfort or leg room of this one. I've had some bigger guys in my car that all commented on the leg room and comfort of the car. Gas mileage is also pretty acceptable. I know the newer ecoBoost style cars have more HP and better mpg overall, but for the money and the additional leg room, I haven't been able to get myself to buy a new car because i haven't found enough benefits to doing so.
The AWD and Traction Control works awesome! I have a long stone driveway and I've had guys with trucks, my parents minivan, friends cars, that get stuck in the snow and I go through it no problem. Wet pavement and Snow you can literally just floor the pedal and the car will make sure you get going before anyone else that doesn't have good AWD.
No car is perfect and all cars will have maintenance. I'm at 108,000 miles now and so far I've had minimal maintenance in my opinion but there were a couple big repairs but Chevy covered them under the 100k mile warranty. The head gasket was bad, replaced by chevy. I did have to replace both front wheel bearings, both front tie rods, all struts but having owned multiple other cars that all needed similar repairs around 100k miles, I'm not surprised and I feel its acceptable.
I do tow with the car on occasion. I have a wood utility trailer I pull behind it that is a fair size. I don't use it much because it is honestly too big in my opinion as its just a little too wide and i think with a V6 engine, you need a trailer that doesn't extend beyond the side of the car you're towing with. A standard 4x6 utility trailer would be fine for this vehicle. Mine is about 5x8 and made of 2"x8" wood. Not ideal at all. Sep 06, 2013

Handles very well on the snow (even better with the snow tires)but I've had to bring it into the dealership 2x for ignition problems. The back window doesn't open seperately from the hatch like some other Crossovers which would be nice.Jul 15, 2009

I love my Equinox. This is the first time I've owned something other than a Ford. Also, the first NEW car I've ever owned. It gets pretty good gas mileage. About 21 town, 27 highway. It is very fun to drive. I haven't enjoyed a vehicle this much since my Mustang. It has lots of room iin the back seat, which was a big selling point for us. Adults sit very comfortably in the back. The only things I'd change is the headrest on the front seats. I'd make them lower for people sitting in the back. I'd also change the fact the the vent would be off instead of on each time you get in. Otherwise I highly recommend it.Jul 28, 2008

My Chevy Equinox is overheating. It has no leaks. Water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, fans ex...is all good. It's a mystery. Water is gone bit no signs of leaks. Can drive it for an hour and never get hot but as soon as I stop somewhere and turn off and then get to driving again it will start running hot. Please help I am at a loss.
2007 Chevy equinox Lt 56, 000 original miles, battery isn't dead but it gets down to 9 volts and won't turn the car over without a jump. Immediately starts with a jump everytime. This doesn't happen everyday, sometimes a week in between having to jump it. While it's running the voltage fluctuates. No lights are left on, battery is 6 months old and tested good as well as the alternator and starter. Any advice welcome, thank so much.
