The 2006 Toyota Avalon remains unchanged from 2005, when it was redesigned with a larger frame and a more sleek and stylish exterior.
The 2006 Toyota Avalon is offered in four trims: the XL, the Touring, the XLS and the Limited. As expected with a high-end vehicle, all 2006 Toyota Avalon models come standard with state-of-the-art safety features including seat-mounted side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver's side kneebag. The Touring is the sportiest version, featuring suspension tuning, alloy wheels and a rear lip spoiler. The Limited includes all the gadgets associated with luxury brand vehicles, including a six-CD, 12-speaker sound system, separate driver and passenger-side temperature controls and the Smart Key system, which allows the driver to unlock the door and start the ignition while the electronic key remains in a pocket or handbag.
The 2006 Toyota Avalon is lauded for its roomy interior (especially the backseat) and smooth, quiet ride. The Avalon also gets surprisingly good gas mileage for a full-size sedan with a 3.5 L V6 engine, about 22/30 mpg using premium fuel.
People interested in the Toyota Avalon may also have an interest in a Nissan Maxima, a well-built car with a slightly sportier feel.

1. Has only one key fob, and that one fob is damaged. New ones cost $325 EACH ! Total cost: $650 for 2 new re-programmed key fobs.
2. All five tires are cracked around the circumference of each tire in all of each tires valleys. Dangerous !
We have to immediately buy four new tires - expensive! $800 !
3. Drivers switch for front passenger window is kaput - an expensive repair - $200 !
4. So the $8,900 purchase wasnt such a good value after all. We now have to lay out an additional $1,650 !
5. However, otherwise, the car is immaculate ! A very clean car, well taken care of.
6. Were still happy we bought the car, although the top-dollar purchase price of $8,900 leaves us with little cash to do the above needed repairs.
7. Were not sorry we made the purchase, but we are not comfortable with all the extra cash we have to lay out now.Jul 18, 2024

2006 Toyota Avalon is a luxury brand of Toyota. It has all the safety, and electronic features that one may want. It has the navigation system, but not the back-up camera system, which can be installed by an aftermarket shop. Good Value.Oct 29, 2023

This 2006 Toyota Avalon has all the features that we were looking for, but the distance to go and test drive it prevented us from buying it. It is a good value, and very reasonably priced. Oct 23, 2023

My 2006 Toyota Avalon limited has been going great at 239,000 miles. The 6 cylinder engine is bulletproof along with the same engine on my 2008 Lexus es350. The es350 has 148,500 and going strong!!! Love both of them the Avalon has been the best car I have ever owned. Low maintenance and good gas mileage you can’t beat it. Jun 17, 2023

I did not get a 2006 but I did get a 2007 with exactly 86,000 miles. The car drives beautifully. It is very smooth with lots of power. The heated seats are amazing. It’s my second Avalon, and I’m hooked (my first is a 1999). Jan 28, 2021

lots of power, reasonable mpg for a large sedan with a reliable 3.5 V6 - 22-26 city and 28-31 hwy (in my own driving experience) with 4 different model trims to choose from you can get just about any feature you want from that particular model. XL, XLS, Touring and Limited. If its been regularly maintained it will not let you down.Jan 23, 2021

Car accelerates smoothly. Brakes are slightly softer for a luxury feel. Always felt safe driving this car with family and very fun to drive. Interior is also very nice with nice leather seats and wood grain dashboard including door handles. Apr 19, 2014

Purchased it for interior spacae, especially for passengers in the back seat. Didn't anticipate how much zip it has, and how much I would enjoy the front-wheel drive. Most of all, like some many Toyota's, the cost of ownership has been very low: oil changes and a new set of tires. I have 80,000 miles on the car and feel no urgency to replace it. Every once in a while an expensive import catches my eye - but then I drive the Avalon and realize what a good car it has been.Mar 23, 2014

This is a good car for a family or for local commute. The leather interior and front seats are very comfortable. Air Conditioner works great....cooling the Avalon down quickly. Has been maintained according to the Toyota Maintenance Plan, including the 75,000 Service Call.Aug 09, 2012

I just purchased the vehicle but already I can tell it has power and very good gas mileage. I don't have much to say right now regarding it but stay tuned I will inform you as information arrives. So far it has power, great gas milage and over the few days I have had it many compliments. And because of this site and others I got the car for a steal :-)Feb 15, 2012

There have been a number of small problems that should not have happened.
!. Had to replace brake pads at28.000 miles
2Center arm rest cover split at 30,000 miles.
3Had to replace a front tire at 3500 miles because of dry rot and over inflation
by dealer.( Dealer denied the latter, however, they were the only ones to
touch the car for any type of service.)
4A/C oil lone broke
5. Battery gave out at 11 monthsOct 18, 2011

Recently had to have cv boots replaced due a tear. Since then the whenever I accelerate the car has a wobble felt through floor and seats. No steering wheel shimmy or wobble. Garage that did repair say that they can see nothing wrong, and must be bad tire. Replaced tires, still has "wobble on acceleration.
I have pre-owned 2006 Avalon Limited with 78k miles on it. It runs smooth. 3 days back (after 200 miles drive) I found both the lights - Check engine and VSC in ON condition. I scanned it using OBD2 (Bluedirect) , below are the error codes it displays: 1 Engine Trouble Codes: • P0456: EVAP System Leak Detected (very small leak) 3 Antilock Brake System Trouble Codes: • C0200: Check report for description. • C1201: Check report for description. • C1223: ABS Control System Malfunction Please suggest what should I do. Thanks
Shakes and struggling to accelerate engine light blinks but I just had a tune up and all plugs and coils and valve gasket replaced and still doing the same thing
Vacaville Toyota gave me a price of $1600 to charge all the coils and spark plugs , they said labor is $150ph . $1600 sounds a bit high don't you think?
