It's a Saab but has the GM MOTOR 5.3 Smoking something terrible have tryed about everything I believe wondering if anyone may have had same issues

As the model years wear on, the GMT360 platform that underpins the Saab 9-7X does not age gracefully. The Saab 9-7X takes form in Ohio along side its mid-sized cousins: TrailBlazer, Rainer, and Envoy.
Saab engineers worked mightily to turn the GM platform into a Euro-style "driver's experience." The frame was stiffened, steering tightened up, springs cut one inch lowering the SUV, shocks were recalibrated, thicker anti-roll bars added, stiffer bushings, electronically controlled rear air suspension, full-time all-wheel drive, a limited-slip differential, and a stability control system.
The exterior and interior received Swedish makeovers. The 9-7X presents a striking, sleek exterior unadorned with chromy knickknacks and badging - definitely Euro. Inhabiting the interior one finds a comfortable place that tries to be Saab, but for some reviewers, even with the center key starter switch, doesn't quite make it.
The two engine offerings: L6 with 290 hp and V8 with 300 hp are pure GM. The torque advantage of the V8 provides a rated 6500-pound towing capacity and more twist for passing maneuvers. Yet, the engines are GM dinosaurs with 15/21 mpg (L6) and 15/19 mpg for the V8, even with GM's displacement on demand (shutting down four cylinders at cruse speeds) giving an 8% fuel economy boost.
More evidence of nostalgia raises its silvered head in the form of the GM four-speed automatic transmission that couples with either engine. The 9-7X competes against SUVs that sport five and six speed automatics that do a more efficient job of gear selection and rely upon the more cost-effective V6 for motivation.
Reviewers seem to have tired of the 9-7X since its 2005 introduction finding it better than the standard GM offerings but no longer, if ever, up to the levels of competing SUVs. Overall, that seems to be the case for the 2006 Saab 9-7X - a pretty face, built on rapidly aging architecture.

Sharp looking truck that can haul a$$. Not as quick as the Saab 97X Aero or Trailblazer SS due to the smaller motor, but definitely a big improvement over the I6 motor. Fuel economy is about the same as the I6 in mixed (hwy/city) driving but excels on the highway due to the 'displacement-on-demand' feature that the 5.3L motor has. Not GM's most reliable product ever but not exactly in the shop every day. A lot more electrical glitches than the Trailblazer that I previously owned probably due to the differences between the shared platform.Feb 06, 2013

Very powerful car. Gas mileage could be better. Quality is good. Fit and finish are good. Ride is stiff but road handling is really good in the curves. Very fun to drive but 5 speed would be better than the auto. Lacks cupholders but other interior finish is nice. May 23, 2009

Overall, one of the better SUV's in it's class. It's a nicer version of the Trailblazer, Envoy, etc. Seating is better, sound system as well, and in my opinion, looks a little "cooler". I need a SUV, and to my suprise, I've been getting 18.6 avg mpg, with mostly city driving!Aug 22, 2008

if yer going on a long trip you might wanna gt this bad boy, its the comfiest Swedish car ive ever been in, the comfort isnt the best part, the inline 6 inside the car pushes out 295 horsepower, thats a tough little saab
