Cadillac decided to add a high-performance convertible to the XLR lineup with the 2006 XLR-V. While the XLR uses a 4.6 L, 320 hp V8 engine, the XLR-V has a 4.4 L, 443 hp V8 with 6 speed automatic transmission. The XLR-V comes in 1 trim and has 2 doors with room for 2 passengers.
Gas mileage comes out to 15 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. Standard features generally match those in the XLR with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, navigation system, ABS brakes, traction control, and stability control. The XLR-V goes from 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds.
Overall, drivers love the XLR-V's power and sleek design. However, interior room can get a bit cramped for larger drivers and critics would like to see a little more than 11.6 cubic feet of cargo space. If you're willing to shell out a little extra for the power increase from the XLR, the XLR-V provides a tight ride that makes a welcome break from Cadillac's more elegant sedans.
