Ever wish you could change your name and start all over? That's pretty much what the Cadillac Deville did in 2006 by changing its name to the DTS and starting over as a new front wheel drive luxury sedan. The Cadillac DTS improves on the Deville with a refurbished interior, smoother ride, and high-tech extras including heated seats and advanced climate control.
The DTS uses a standard 4.6 L, 275 hp V8 engine with 4 speed automatic transmission and optional 4.6 L, 291 hp V8. Expect to get 17 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. In addition, the DTS comes in 4 trims and has 4 doors, seats 5, and offers standard air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, ABS brakes, and traction control. Options include stability control, navigation system, and sunroof. The 291 hp V8 model goes from 0-60 mph in just under 7 seconds.
For now, it looks like the DTS has made an impressive debut in the eyes of experts and drivers alike. Consumers especially appreciate the new design, which should attract a broader demographic than the retirees you'd typically see cruising around in a Deville. Look for continuing updates as the DTS seeks to gain fans inside and outside the country.

As an American luxury automobile the vechile gets three star. But in the Japanese world their vechiles get five stars. This is my opinion but I have owned and driven both. There is a difference. Last of the big highway cruising American sedans. Only drawback to me is its a front wheel drive so the Northstar4.6 V8 is sideways (like all front wheel drives) and Ive heard its not a good fit. That said, Ive also been told keep the coolant and oil at the line, youll get more life out of the engine. The mechanics just told me the Northstar4.6 cant be abused like some engines. Jan 11, 2023

Bought the DTS for highway commuting. Pleasantly surprised that is nimble enough to get around town with ease. It's a big car but it has great driving dynamics and handling. It's comfortable but you still feel the road. Tons of subtle features that improve the driving experience. Also, it doesn't overwhelm you with distracting gadgets.Mar 22, 2015

You can not find any import that will compete with this American car, for overall performance, comfort, and reliability. The Northstar engine, has all the performance that anyone would need for a vehicle like this. Great acceleration, handles wells, very little body roll if any at all, talk about feeling safe when you are driving this is the car. Gas milage is wonderful for a full size, V8 vehicle. Aug 29, 2014

Nothing yet bad yet!
Attractive, perfect long trip, a real cruiser. Friends and folks that service it always want to buy it. I have had 15 Cads now and this DTS is the best ever. Electric reporting tire pressures, 4 heated seats and two cooled seats. Small built in and automatic drink (etc) cooler.

This is a good car for basic use, it rides smoothly, there's plenty of space in it, so
you definitely don't feel cramped, and it has a nice design on the inside and out.
Overall this car does perform good, she'll definitely get up to speed when you want

The acceleration in this beast is incredible yet smooth you feel the push back but yet it sustains its comfortablility.The interior is very luxurious with a cherry wood finish and the outside states presedential.The car is very spacious and can seat six people comfortably.Oct 28, 2010

Performance on the car with a terrificaly built Northstar V8, it has plenty of get-up with all the luxury you want. Braking is great with new brakes, though mine need tightening. This car is perfect all over, the car has no issues. The styling is modern but keeps with the classic Cadillac look and feel. It's an absolutely a great car, I love the feel of the wood and leather sterring wheel while going down the highway.Oct 05, 2009

I like it, if only it was new...LOL The performance is great. Build Quality is not that great. Appearance is nice. Ownership is great if nothing breaks. The DTS is very fun to drive. I would recomend a Cadillac only if your going to buy it NEW, just because if somthing goes wrong with it then its covered un the warranty of the manufacturer.Sep 19, 2008

It's a Lac, do I have to say more? The car's performance is hot. 400 horsepower in a four door luxury sedan, them's Charger numbers people!
