Have 05 Golf GTI and yesterday my turn signals, headlights, Rear defrost, heated seats, and my fan for my heat stop working CAN SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME TO KNOW WTH HAPPEN OR WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE

With the Volkswagen GTI scheduled for a redesign in 2006, VW made no changes to the vehicle for the 2005 model year. It was still available in two popular trim packages. The 1.8T base model was equipped with a turbocharged 180-horsepower, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that was linked to a five-speed manual transmission (a five-speed automatic was optional). Kicking things up a notch was the GTI VR6, which came with a 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine that generated 200 horsepower. It was linked to a six-speed manual transmission.
Standard features included anti-lock brakes, a CD player, air conditioning, power windows, remote power door locks, power exterior mirrors, cruise control, a tilt/telescopic steering column, keyless remote entry, traction control, and an anti-theft alarm system. Options included a power sunroof, heated front seats, and a CD changer. The VR6 also came with a stability control system, which was optional on the 1.8T. Leather seats, a power sunroof, and a CD changer were among the options.
The GTI's acceleration, handling, styling, and safety features were cited as positive points by drivers. The car was also considered a good value by many drivers, who note that they received good deals on the car, especially with a redesign scheduled for the following year.

Title says it all. If you can find a low mileage MK4 GTI, I say scoop it up. No hesitation to recommend this vehicle.
It's great on gas, engaging to drive, and feels all around solid.

Single college student who owned this car for seven years and REALLY put it through its paces. Get a newer Volkswagen GTI with four doors. Never buy another car again. It's a sharp swiss army knife. It can do small sports car, hatchback, wagon, and sedan; all that with a premium feel. It can be your daily driver, beater, distance driver, weekend toy, and small load hauler all at once. Great car to have in a city. Don't try to haul anything big with it. Higher than average maintenance cost that can be countered with proper upkeep. Enthusiasts in any one of the above mentioned categories will be less impressed...but Volkswagen stands for 'people's car' and this car tickles the different fancies and needs of EVERY person just right, just enough.May 07, 2014

This is a great car for someone just starting to drive or someone who is looking to start/refresh their automotive maintenance skills. This car seems to start losing points in the fuel economy area, once you begin to travel over 70 MPH. Not sure if that's due to the high-running RPM's of the engine at that speed or just my driving habits.Nov 24, 2011

Love the way it handles, brakes, steers. Overall great car. Few minor
cosmetic issues inside. Nothing to complain about overall. Great gas
mileage and torque. This car is great for a single person or small family.

For the performance of the Mk 4 Gti i have to give it a four because like with any car there is always that little somthing to be desired. For the things id ad would be give the front suspention a little more strength, Ive only put about 1g into the cars performance and already ive notice a big change. If i totally let it out in first the entire front end will somtimes bounce on me which is horrible so thatll be the next thing that i up grade.
For the build quality i put a four simply because their are some parts on the car that if your not carful theyll easily break, like the clip for the armrest comartment, or the seatbelt bolt cover or even little parts under the hood. For all the majo parts however it is a solid build.
For the apperence id have to give it a five though, other than lowering the car there isnt much you can do to it to make it look any sexier than it does. Sure you can get new wheels for it and pait your beauty but even without all that stuff and the stock wheels the mk4 just looks mean to me. I had enough money to go with the Mk 5 if i had wanted to but just somthing about the looks matched with the endlist tuneing of the 1.8t just made me want the mk4 more.
Overall id have to give the Mk4 Gti a 4 out of 5. Its not the fastest or most agile car right of the lot but with a little love and a lot of dedication it can do almost anthing you want it to .Dec 04, 2010

Well the fact that I smashed it into a snow bank a few years ago, and now it needs new shocks kinda sucks. I been putting it off but it could really use some new ones. Absolutely brilliant build quality that only the Germans can offer. Loads of torque from the turbocharged straight-4. Shiftable automatic gearbox with five forward speed. Sometimes I feel the it could benefit from a sixth gear, but being that it is tuned for performance, it will naturally have shorter gears. Very fast car, and will get to 155MPH easily. And when your doing that speed, you don't worry cause the handing is very good.Dec 06, 2009

Well put together car.Tranny is smooth as silk, which is rare in a manual 4cyl. Gas mileage is respectable. Turbo spools quickly and gets the car moving at a good pace. Over-all drive is fun. Interior quality is excellent for the price. BMW type feel.Oct 02, 2009

i bought this car a few months ago, it was one of the best decisions ive made...it had higher mileage but its nothing for a volkwagen...the car handles very well and is extremely fun to drive. performance wise there could be more there but for a turbo 1.8l the car is very quick, its also amazing on gas (if your good with the pedal that is)Sep 06, 2009

Could use a few more horses. Transmission is the smoothest i've driven yet. Huge aftermarket for parts. Planning on an APR chip, FMIC, Turbo Back exhaust, Forge Diverter Valve for the time being. Can't wait to auto cross this car.Sep 03, 2009

Jag älskar den här bilen,komfort och snygg,,:-). Snabb accelation. Skinnsäten, så behöver man inte vara orolig att barnen spiller. Den röda färgen är så snygg.

Ideal car for the petrolhead with a family, does the school run and has plenty of room for the shopping, cheapest of the current hot hatches to tax and insure and goes like absolute snot when you put your foot down (this ones been remapped to approx 240hp with uprated brakes and performance filter). Car has famous vw reliability and build quality and will hold its value better than other makes. the volkswagon GTI is the most compact and sporty car in its class. you would zooom through the highway in tight corners the GTI has good handling and acceleration. the car is fun to drive on several occasions. it has to 2 door look with 2 seats in the front ant 2 more seats in the back i would truly suggest this car for younger people looking for speed at a low cost. you could hook up the car in many ways. the best car to buy!Jul 03, 2008

The GTI is based of the fourth generation golf platform. Main differences include: Sport Suspension, the availability of higher output engines (1.8T, VR6), Monsoon Sound, Moonroof, Sport Seats, Alloy Wheels and smoked tailights.
The fourth generation GTI 1.8T is good vehicle, sporty, yet not harsh riding. It is very praticial due to its hatchback configurations. Backseats may be folded to extend cargo even further.
One of the best traits of the vehicle is its 1.8T engine which has been awarded Ward's 10 best engines in previous years. This engine pulls strong from Idle to 5500RPM, output is 180HP and 173lbs ft of torque. This engine pushes passengers in back of their seats. It's that good. It also returns excellent gas mileage for a turbo engine. Mid 20s MPG.
Nevertheless, the GTI does have some downfalls which include numerous electrical problems, mostly radio and working around the engine bay is very tight, resulting in scraps and cuts around fingers and hands. It also looks like a GOLF. There are no real appearance differences to differientate the GTI and GOLF. So the GTI in some cases falls below the attractive radar. Apr 13, 2008

Gti spraying out oil
I just got a 2005 vw gti with the1.8t engine, it has an upgraded turbo. when we drive it and make any boost oil sprays all onto the underneath of the hood it seems to be coming out of the oil filler cap, but the seal looks good on that. we tried turning it on and revving it with the hood open, but nothing sprayed out. took it for a ride then popped the hood and there was more oil sprayed on the hood and looked around oil filler cap. i also checked dipstick and it still seems to be full like it hasn’t lost much oil. why could it be doing this?

Got a 2005 Golf Gti with a lot of shaking after 60mph. Comes from the front for sure but cant tell where. I replaced every part of the steering system and brakes as well about 6 months ago. Im thinking it may be the CV axle? help

Why dose my car suddenly stall/die in hot temprature weather?
Recently the weather warmed up where I live and my car has been dieing on me when I drive out during the day when it's hot out. It does not do it in the morning or evenings. CEL is not on. It dies and it won't start for about 5 minutes after it starts the engine runs fine. Do you have any idea what it could be? I replaced the battery and spark plugs 2 weeks ago. Do you think that it could be the coils?
