The 2005 Toyota ECHO saw no significant changes in its last year of production in the US. The slow-selling sub-compact was due to be replaced by the Yaris, which would be released as a 2007 model.
The 2004 Toyota ECHO came in two body styles, a two door and a four door. Both shared a 108-horsepower 1.5-liter engine. It came standard with a five-speed manual transmission, and a four-speed automatic was an available option. Fuel economy was excellent, about 31/38 mpg.
The 2005 ECHO was appreciated by many as a good, reliable, basic car, though it didn’t come with a lot of frills (even power windows and locks were optional.) Those who complained did so about its lack of power, cheap interior, and lack of stability in the wind.

Appearance: Friendly looking car. Comfort level up there, for what you would expect from this price class.
Build quality: Very easy to drive with perfect visibility. Never in the shop for anything. Really good on gas and basically maintenance free.
Performance: Sufficient acceleration to pass people, easy to go with the flow. Braking weak, but predictable. Handling sufficient for everyday driving. Felt safe and in control driving it. The car is fun to drive.Mar 19, 2013

The mileage is good for a medium size vehicle. The
acceleration is best one for an medium size car. 0-60kmph in 6
seconds. Braking is farely good. its easy to handle in heavy

Great commuter car for the wife cheap on gas. Looks sporty and she loves it. A little short on the leg room for me but I don't drive it much but sure great for getting a parking sport for busy events and such....Oct 04, 2009

c'est bruyant, ça pogne dans le vent mais ça shift bien
faut faire attention de bien clancher les bancs derrière sinon on paye 60$ pour se le faire dire.... ce qui est merveilleux c'est que le gas coûte absolument pas cher et que même si tu roules à 140 ça en prends pas bcp!Dec 03, 2008

I own an Echo Hatchback RS 2005. It's got good handling, but lacks acceleration. It's an automatic transmission. The standard transmission is much better for this car's performance. The interior is great in the RS, except that there are lots of vibrations from everything that is made with plastic. It's very economic when you look at gas mileage and repairs. My automatic transmission is pretty boring to drive. But I heard that the standard is fun and nervous.Jul 20, 2008

What users have asked
2005 Toyota Echo hatchback with soaking wet floor behind driver and passenger seats, what could be causing this?
I first noticed the rear seat was soaked around the seatbelts (where they come up from underneath the seat). I dried the seat out with a space heater but the moisture keeps returning and now the rear floor is soaking wet as well. I live in a wet climate.

Fuel Pump Doesn't Prime Immediately
Since a friend replaced my fuel pump a while back, I've had an issue with starting the car, it's almost as if it's not holding the prime. After the first few cranks I can hear the pump turn on, and then click. Then it will usually fire second turn of the key with the exception of it being -35, then it may need me to prime again. Never 4. The fuel pump is accessible through the back seat, so I'm hoping if it may be something simple I'll try to fix it first before I bring it to a shop. Im not sure where the check valve is located, but could he have done something by accident to that? Ive just quickly looked at it before, and honestly the lid didn't look properly sealed. If someone could please tell me where I should check first, and perhaps save me a bit of time and headache it would be very greatly appreciated. Plus I can't imagine the starter is in much agreement with the current setup lol.
