It's plain, it's basic, it's cheap, it doesn't come with a whole lot of fancy extras -- kind of like high school cafeteria food. But the 2005 Hyundai Accent makes a great first car, thanks to 29/33 mpg, an affordable price tag, and reliable 4-star crash ratings. For 2005, the Accent picks up optional ABS brakes, a nice bonus to the already standard dual front-side airbags, often overlooked in compact economy cars.
As the entry-level offering, the 2005 Accent comes in either a GLS sedan or GT and GLS hatchback. Both have split-folding rear seats, but the hatch offers more cargo room. The GT is meant to be the sportier version, with a sports suspension, alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler. Taking its compactness seriously, the 2005 Hyundai Accent is eight inches shorter than the Civic, but this means it is that much more maneuverable and parking space-friendly. It is powered by a 1.6-liter, 104-hp I4 with choice of standard 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Features are minimal, and even air conditioning comes only as an option, along with power features. You do get a cassette player, however, for those of us that still own cassettes.
The revamped styling from 2003 makes the 2005 Accent much easier on the eyes than your standard cafeteria fare, and it comes with a good powertrain warranty. Most owners praise its gas efficiency, dependability, and handling, though they admit there is some road noise and the backseat is not conducive to anyone with legs. Most drivers wish it came with a tilt steering wheel.

Manual windows and locks on this car aren't that much of a pain...because it's so
small. I can reach the passenger lock and window roller from the drivers seat
without leaning very much!

It is so simple to work on and handles ant turns sharply
The car did not have a exensive shop maintinence record/ there is no recalls on it this time.
1 year tabs paid for good time to save this money.
I so like 400 miles Plus on a tank of gas, and the road noise was minimal !!!!!
Dis- like my back dose not twist very well, and my sholders are to wide .it is a compact car and I like space like my one ton dodge Dule Truck.Mar 12, 2013

Performance - being a 1.6L mill, acceleration is impressive but not brilliant or over-the-top. Brakes could have had a lot more bite- they are too spongy. The handling is quite good but the steering lacks feel and fails to provide any kind of feedback whatsoever.
Build quality - good build quality overall, but for a few issues with the starter circuit. Been through a couple of repairs to rectify this. Otherwise a trouble-free car to own.
Appearance - conventional sedan look. A bit old fashioned now and too common on the roads to create any form of distinguishing factor.
Cost of ownership - a bit heavy on the wallet. Gives me 10-11km to a litre of petrol in the city with A/C switched on. Highway fuel efficiency is somewhere around 15-16 kmpl with the A/C on. Maintenance costs and quality of Hyundai's servicing are satisfactory, but could be better.
Fun factor - a fun car to drive around, got oodles of torque to give you good acceleration. Nicely spaced out gear ratios avoid having to switch gears often in city traffic.

nice 1.5CRDi direject injection common rail turbo diesel..better than its petrol siblings ..83bhp;190nm torque -torque bettr than HONDA CIVIC..nice notch back really fun 2drive. 16kmpl i like the way its diesel heart roars @high R.P.M's..can attain 185km/h-i did it.lots of mntannce reqd-TYPICAL DIESEL.more expensiv than HONDACITY GXi-when i boughtOct 19, 2009

it has a good acceleration and its comfartable and affordable
...and it has good handling too...and much more @6.2lacs
..it's a perfect car for a family of 4 or 5 and gives nice speed
...and i guess it drifts a bit...not more so take it

Pertformance- good performance, little power but a decent torque
It's a nice design but nothing extraordinary
Don't need many $ investment, it doesn't breaks often if you give it a good manteinence
It's really economic in gas and in the overall cost of the car
It's a really fun car but depends on the actitude of the driver ;)

It's a good ride, good gas milage, holds together, had to do zero work on the car in almost 70000 miles. Good but cheap. I have the GT so it handles pretty good, don't know about the base models. No frills, but works.May 25, 2009

Ok! Inget specielt. funkar bara som den borde... låga servicekostnader och driftskostnader gör den ekonomisk att äga...Ingen vidare rolig motor men den tar dig från a till b ingen vidare komfort, sitter som på träbritsar viner o drar men vafan det e ju min bil iaf... tycker det får räcka så

When we got it... it was good... but it is a piece went to creston and on the way back the Overdrive went out if the Tranny, it has needed well over it's share of stereos, New Brakes and Rotars and New Fuel Pump... The dealership refuses to work on the Tranny cuz they say there is nothing wrong so I guess it is normal for the Car to smell like it is burning and to occasionaly lose Overdrive.Aug 24, 2008

Its a pretty good car. I have never had any serious problems with it. It gets pretty good gas mileage and runs smoothly. It is quite small but works good for college kids or a single person. It is fun to drive, but I wish it had a tape deck for my ipod. Maybe the newer versions do?!Aug 05, 2008

I love my little car. It handles well and is small enough to fit into any space. The air and heat work really well on it. They make them reasonably priced but they didn't seem to skimp on anything, Everything works on it as well as a higher priced car. Aug 01, 2007

My head cracked in my 2005 Hyundai Accent. I bought a motor at it put in and after it was put in we cranked it but now it won't go anywhere? The transmission worked perfect before I had the motor changed. So my question is why wont my car go now?

2005 Hyundai Accent has trouble starting after the engine is warmed up
Just like the title says if I drive the car 10-15 minutes or more than attempt to restart while the engine is still warm/hot it has trouble turning over. It will usually crank a little bit then just stop and not turn over. After letting the engine cool for 30 minutes to an hour the car starts 100% fine with no hesitation. Car has 108k miles, a new battery and the check engine light has not come on. Thank you in advance for any help
