The Toyota Camry was completely redesigned in 2002, so not much changed for the 2004 model of this consistent best-seller. It still maintains the Camry's signature conservative styling, comfortable interior, easy and accessible controls and solid reputation for reliability. Like the Camrys that came before it, the 2005 Toyota Camry is a car for people who don't want a lot of bells and whistles but who are looking for features and quality beyond an entry-level car.
The 2004 Toyota Camry comes in the LE, SE and XLE trim levels. Though the LE is the base model, it still comes nicely equipped, including power windows, mirrors and locks with remote keyless entry. The SE comes with the expected sporty features, such as higher-rated shocks, bigger wheels and higher-effort steering. It also comes standard with a moon roof. The XLE is the luxury model, coming equipped with automatic temperature control, power seats and a six-disc in-dash CD player. The XLE has been compared to the Lexus ES. All three trims come standard with a four-cylinder engine and are available with a v6 engine. New for 2004 is the optional 3.3 L (as opposed to 3.0) v6 engine in the SE. The 2004 Toyota Camry gets about 20 city/30 highway mpg, depending on the engine.
Drivers love the 2004 Toyota Camry because it is a good solid car, with a comfortable interior, smooth ride and little time spent in the shop. One of the biggest complaints about the 2004 Toyota Camry is that it looks boring and drives boring. Another more noteworthy complaint from some is that the brakes are mushy without ABS.

As a first car it is fantastic. Engine and transmission response is great for a car with this size. The best thing however is the car will last you if it’s well taken care of. However, the looks is old and it is very boring to drive even though compared to other sedans that age such as the Malibu this doesn’t even compare. Aug 20, 2023

This vehicle is comfortable and very luxurious for a 2004 model. The gas mileage is fantastic which equals some hybrid models on a long trip. Maintenance and upkeep has NOT been expensive and the handling is smooth - a pleasure to drive.Jan 01, 2015

This is 3rd Camry we have owned.
Our 1993 went over 270K miles
Our 1999 had 150K when we sold it to buy the 2009 Camry we now own.
Regular maintenance is the key to a long life on these cars.
My son and daughter have owned 2 others.

Odd as it may seem, our 2004 Camry LXE is our luxury car. After years of driving gently-used hand-me-downs (our other car is a 1995 Camry LE), we bought this one new, and have loved it ever since. With regular maintenance, it still feels and looks like new, except for a small dent in the rear fender. Apropos, does anyone make touch-up paint that actually matches a car’s original paint?
The front seats are comfortable and adjustable to support the back; the back seat has plenty of room for two [grand] children’s booster seats and their mom sitting between them, and they can adjust the temperature back there. The trunk is terrific – room for just about anything, especially with the fold-down back seats, which accommodate extra-long items. The optional net that stretches side to side in the trunk to hold packages upright seemed like an indulgence when we bought the car, but it’s been very useful, and we miss it when we’re using the older car.
Improvements over the 1995 Camry include electronic seat and side-view mirror controls, electronic entry, a better set-up for between-seat storage of miscellaneous items, and cup holders that can still be used when the shift lever is forward, in park. [What were they thinking when they designed the earlier model??]
Luck-of-the-draw: Neither one of our Camrys has been included in the recent recalls for floor pads or runaway acceleration.
The 2004 Camry is our road-trip car, for comfort, dependability, and mileage. Otherwise, it’s used in-city, for errands. The only drawback that we’ve found (and have had to adjust our driving to) is that despite good tires, traction when there’s rain, snow, or ice is not always reliable. In slippery conditions, we have to leave plenty of room to stop, and we’ve learned not to accelerate quickly from a full stop.

The look of the car is really appealing. It's almost sporty in design. The brakes are amazing, turning is easy, and it gets up to 70 pretty quick. I usually get 30 and up mpg town driving. There's plenty of legroom and the system that came with it was pretty decent. Most importantly it's safe. Got into one accident and walked away without a scratch.

Excellent Handling , Braking , Grip on the Road. The repairs dont need a lot of cost and the parts are cheaper. Appreance from inside is Quite Good and Exterior is in style also. Well the car price dont drop after you purchase it has a good resale value. Gas milage is great also.May 18, 2009

I love my Camry. I got it with 22K miles on it, it now has 105K miles, and I've never had to take it to the shop for more than brakes, oil, ect. It's a fun car to drive, it runs smooth, and tires wear great. Premium gas gives it GREAT acceleration, and the gas mileage is awesome for a midsize sedan in 04.Jan 15, 2009

Quality you can count on. definitely one for the Hall of fame. Acceleration is decent. Handling superb. The build quality is in my opinion second to none. I beat up the cars I drive a lot. I drive almost 24000 a year in the car and it still runs quiet smooth and very reliably. I love the fact that it reminds me to change the oil. My Toyota Camry has been the BEST CAR that I have ever owned! It is always reliable, has not caused any problems for me and is fun to drive. I'm not exactly young (38), but I feel even older when I drive my parents 2002 Toyota Camry. The styling is nothing spectacular both inside and out. It handles like a car twice its size and the V6 feels like it has less power than my sisters 4-cylinder Honda Accord. I guess it's not a bad car for my parents, but I certainly wouldn't want to own one. I like crisper handling and loads of power. This car is a disappointment to me, but I'm sure others find it somewhat "luxurious".
