Other than some minor exterior adjustments, not much changed for the Yukon in 2004. The '04 GMC Yukon full-size SUV comes in 7 trims: Base, Base 4WD, SLE, SLE 4WD, SLT, SLT 4WD, and Denali 4WD. All 7 have 4 doors and room for 6-9 passengers.
Gas mileage generally comes out to 15 mpg in the city and 19 on the highway. The '04 Yukon gives you 3 different V8 engines: a 4.8 L, 275 hp model, 4.8 L, 285 hp, and 6.0 L, 325 hp. Max towing capacity for most trims hovers around 8000 lbs. Finally, you'll get up to 105 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded down.
Overall, drivers like the modern features, powerful V8's, and spacious interior. Exterior and interior materials could use some improvement. Otherwise, those who buy an '04 Yukon will appreciate a solid domestic van. Look for a complete makeover in 2007.

This car was in my family for almost 15 years, my parents bought it used in 2007, some of the best childhood memories i have were in this car. when i turned 16 it became mine and i never had more trust and comfort in a car. it had its issues of course, nothing ever too serious. Never needed an engine or transmission replacement. most of the problems came from the brakes every couple years or the occasional issue with the drivers side window that wouldn’t roll down or up. I reached 200,000 miles on this car, completely going strong and running! i had to say bye to her recently because she got stolen and had more costs in damage than what the car was worth at that point. i loved this car more than anything and whenever i see one driving by now, i give it a hello and thank my girl for all the years i had with her and everything she helped me get through :)Jan 16, 2023

I love this 2004 Yukon and its features! And its not everyday that you find a 2004 with well under 90,000 miles and in mint condition, loaded with options! The only thing missing is Bluetooth for hands-free calling, but Bluetooth in car stereos was rare in 2004 due to the fact that back then you could legally hold your phone in your hand while driving. Car protected my family when hit by DUI. Car was great for family transport including two labs. Took it camping with the whole family and had enough room for everything. Good in bad weather. Only had one issue with door lock electrics on drivers door,Jan 24, 2015

This is one of the best vehicles GM has Built, Solid. Good Handling. Great comforts built in to this car. heated leather seats, bose stereo ,ABS braking is stupid fast slow/down

Very comfortable ride. Roomy, quiet and handled great for a large vehicle. Had no problems with anything mechanical. Only con is if you family gets smaller, it really is too big and the gas mileage is inline with a truck but expensive in general terms.Jul 09, 2013

Happy with car at ~120k miles. No serious maint issues to date, one warranty item to replace instrument cluster. Good in snow and good towing capacity. Mileage has always been a little lower than advertised. Looking forward to next 10 years. May 17, 2013

2004 Yukon black with 20" rims. 120xxx miles. Cloth interior. Third row seat. Double AC. Power Windows. power locks. Bluetooth radio. Hids. Airaid Intake. Anti-Theft System with kill switch. Vortec Engine. 4.8. Tint all around. System wired ready. This truck is great to drive around and ready. Nothing else needed. This is my daily driver but I work three blocks away from work. This is a bad ass truck. Sit High and ride on air. Way too much power for what I need. Perfect for taking bogey to the dog park. Great to pull a boat. Not that I have one. But it would be great. Mar 15, 2009

I love our Yukon, it has tons of room, comfortable seats, ass and back warmers (good for winter and being pregnant), 4x4 is nice for muddy roads or snow. we bought this yukon in Dec 07 because the carseat would not fit in the grand prix that we had. I really wish it would have because it was paid for, but hey, I'm all about the safety of our family. Overall, I love our Yukon, just not the gas milege!!!Sep 10, 2008

My 2004 Yukon 4wd the "traction active" warning displays intermittently,
It happens about 5 or 6 times a week. when it comes on the car hesitates for a couple of seconds and then regains power. Then the display warning goes off. This is happening on dry pavement and there is no slipping or skidding. I noticed about half the time it happens when I pull out onto the road turning right. The dealer replaced a steering sensor but it still kept happening. Now he says he doesn't see a code so he can't do anything. I have Stabilitrack and I notice the indicator light is now always in the 4WD high position. I always thought it was in the 2WD position before but I didn't really pay attention and I'm not sure about that. The dealer says it should be in the 4WD high position and stabilitrack will kick in when needed. Any thoughts out there? thanks.

2004 Yukon cranks but won't start.
My 2004 Yukon ran perfectly yesterday. Parked in driveway overnight and this morning cranks fine but won't start. Tried several times. Has half tank of gas.

Battery is not charging
I tested my alternator and it is good. I tested my battery and it's good. But the alternator is not charging the battery. Also if I charge my battery full and put it back in my car but did not use it. The next day the battery is dead. I can't figure it out? What can it be?
