The 2023 GMC Yukon is a spacious, upscale, and capable full-size SUV. It provides three rows of adult-friendly seating, and the rear seats can fold down to provide up to 122.9 cubic feet of cargo space. With the second row in use, the Yukon provides 72.6 cubic feet of cargo space. With all seats in use, the Yukon provides 25.5 cargo space behind the rear seats. For 2023, the Yukon is available with a new, range-topping Denali Ultimate trim, and GM’s Super Cruise partial self-driving tech also becomes available.
Trims for the 2023 GMC Yukon are SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, and the aforementioned Denali Ultimate. Standard features on the SLE trim include power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, six USB ports, two wall-style power outlets, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Moving up to the SLT trim adds heated and ventilated front seats, leather-appointed seating, wireless device charging, a hands-free power litigate, and a Bose premium stereo system.
The AT4 is the more outdoor-inspired model and features a two-speed transfer case, skid plates, bright red tow hooks, Magnetic Ride Control, hill-descent control, and all-terrain tires.
The Denali boasts power-adjustable second-row captain’s chairs, an upgraded 14-speaker stereo system, and a power-sliding center console. The Denali Ultimate takes this a step further with 22-inch alloy wheels, full-grain premium leather upholstery, and unique styling elements.
The base engine is a 5.3-liter V8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Shoppers can also select a 6.2-liter V8 that puts out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, as well as a turbodiesel 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that puts out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All engines route power through a 10-speed automatic to the rear wheels or available four-wheel drive (4WD). When properly equipped, the Yukon can tow up to 8,400 pounds.
The most efficient version of the Yukon is the diesel engine with rear-wheel drive (RWD). It returns fuel economy of 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 combined. The 5.3-liter V6 with RWD returns fuel economy of 15 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and 17 combined. The least-efficient configuration is the 6.2-liter V8 with 4WD. It returns fuel economy of 14 mpg city, 18 city, and 16 combined.
The Yukon comes equipped with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher-level trims come equipped with safety tech such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic emergency braking, and a head-up display. The Yukon is available with Super Cruise, which is a form of partially autonomous driving.
Base MSRP for the 2023 GMC Yukon is $59,295 for the SLE trims. The SLT trim starts at $65,995. The AT4 trim starts at $72,600. The Denali starts at $74,700, and the range-topping Denali Ultimate starts at $95,395. The GMC Yukon is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
