BMW made its most extensive string of changes to its X5 luxury SUV in 2004, the first major overhaul for the vehicle since it debited in 2000. Also added in 2004 was the 4.8i trim. Capable of going as fast as 150 miles per hour (but not necessarily wise to do so), the X5 is "quicker away from traffic lights than most cars," the X5 offer precise steering and is "exceptionally stable at supra-legal speeds."
What drivers didn't like is the limited cargo space and the fact that while the luxury vehicle is billed as an SUV, it's not the type of vehicle you can use for stream crossing and road forging. At best, the vehicle will handle well on a logging road but for all practical purposes, this is a comfortable car for weekend road trips with the kids.
my x5 is displaying self level susp inact, also the level indicator for the switch is off. the front suspension is sitting down, now i have parked it cause its driving uncomfortable. please advice.
We found at odd times the alternator shuts off leaving only the battery to drive the engine which soon shows warning lights and then a total shut down and a dead engine, yet the Ign warning light never gave advance warning. After say half an hour you could jump start the engine after which every thing is in order and the alternator charging up the battery
Ive replaced the battery but it still doing it, like I said after running the car for 5 minutes I can shut it off and the alarm goes away and won’t come back on the rest of the day, until the car sits overnight, I’m not sure if the car is overcharging when it starts and it gives me the alarm or something else, I’m not having issues with my transmission it shifts fine other then locking me out of 1 and 2 gear when the alarm comes on. But it will reset after I shut the car off and start it back up.
Long story short my booster failed so I took it to a brake shop and they had it for almost 3 months and gave it back with brake problems. They replaced the booster and master cylinder. Now there is 4-5 inches of play in the pedal before it starts to engage. With the car off, pedal is solid and at the top. Once car is on, bleeds down to the floor. I’ve pressure bled the brake stystem and now I’m going to do the bleed procedure activating the abs pump. Any ideas what the probelm is? Used all OEM parts.
Hi Guys, Battery ran flat in my BMW x 5 4.8is after I left the key on about 4-5 hrs, some interior lights were on and CD Player was on. is that usual? or is it look like my battery has come to end of life? I thought it has more power than that.The I call RACV, a guy came and first tried with tiny battery pack, connected to jumper start, but didn't start and some alarm went off and display went blank. then he disconnected the + terminal to reset the computer and tried again, nothing happened. Then he suggested to use more powerful source he had and it seemed had enough power ( he should have done it at the first place without disconnecting the power terminal), but computer asked for code before it starts. I have no idea about what is that 4 digit code and does anybody know how to reset that code? Also is that OK to charge the battery with external battery charger through the jumper start terminals without remove the battery out of the car ( while the battery is fixed in the car?)
