Acura changed little for the 2004 RSX, preferring to leave its popular, entry-level coupe the same as the previous year. Available at the base trim or as the more powerful Type S, the 2004 RSX kept its reputation as a good car to drive and to tune.
The 2004 RSX is meant to house a manual transmission, and the stick shift comes standard on the base trim, and is the only option on the Type-S. The 2.0-liter I4 is rated at 160 horsepower for the base, and at 200 horsepower for the Type-S. Torque for each is right around 140 lb-ft.
Mileage is estimated at 27/33 for the standard coupe, 25/34 for the automatic, and 24/31 for the Type-S.
Drivers love the engine of this car, including the acceleration, handling, and tunability. There have been many complaints about road noise and about rattling from within the car.

This is great daily driver,great gas milage,and it has his and hers sport shifter,it has give me no trouble and is very dependable,its security system is a little sensitive but it was well worth the money.Apr 10, 2013

Nothing bad about this car.. it handles well and shreds around corners. Handling is superior to most vehicles that I've driven. Insurance is inexpensive and is easy to maintain. Fun car to drive and work on so everyone else should REX it up and enjoy!Oct 31, 2010

I love the car it has good suspension, and great looks. Has plenty of mods out for it and is pretty easy to work on. The interior is also quite good for a sports car and the interior lights are red which is pretty cool. And it also has no tractoion control which is cool. All around good car. Quick, light, and good handling. Comfortable. I upgraded the suspension a little bit and also upgraded audio. Not a lot of room for speakers or anything but it sounds good once it is inside the vehicle.Jan 22, 2010

Good acceleration, and pretty good suspension, even for the base model. The Vtec really helps both with power and gas mileage. Barely uses any gas, and it's decently sporty. Overall the car is perfect for what it was made for.Nov 18, 2009

Great motor and transmission. The McPherson strut is just inferior to the older SLA suspension which happen to be the biggest downfall of the car. It has the turning radius of a naval vesil. Suspension it just to soft for a "sport tuned" suspension and it handles average at best. Interior is nice, but not high quality. Seats ripped. Steering wheel wore down. Some problems with the windows. Hatch leaks. Gas mileage is good,I average around 33-34 overall. Only problem is it takes premium and synthetic oil because of the high compression high-revving engine. It is fun to drive on weekends. Parts are still expensive for the car despite it being almost 8 years old. Get a GSR or an ITR instead.Nov 06, 2009

Performance- acceleration is not that good, there is somewhat of a lag. For build, come on, all Hondas are tough, but I did have trouble with the headlight for a while. I love the appearance, both interior and exterior. Cost of ownership is perfect for any college kid, it runs good on gas and I rarely bring it in for maintenance. This car is very fun to drive. It handles like a dream, just point the car where ever you want and it goes there. Build quality is very strong, nothing really feels cheap. My only complaint is the bass from the bose stereo. It has a sub in it from the factory but its a joke.Aug 14, 2009

at 8k RPMs! Hugs the road well. Great car for
under 20k. When u hit the powerband it lunges

Simple mods make this car night/day in performance. This car has a little bit of performance, comfort, luxury, and anything else you can think of for the price. I love this car inside and out. FWD is its only flaw in my opinion, but even then, it's not a big deal for me since I don't drag race with it. A great daily driver. Jul 17, 2008

Fantastic little sports coupe. Plenty of standard features that are options on more expensive cars.
Handling is superb, regardless of the FWD layout.
Simple clean good looks. No racy, spoilers, splitters, or exaggerated lines.
Effortless acceleration in any gear. VTEC is amazing... winding the car up in the lower gears is hard to resist.
Beautiful interior, excellent driving position, well bolstered sport seats.
Six speed transmission is a pleasure to use.
Hatchback design makes this/that more practical.

my friend has an 04 rsx type s...when he bought the car it was wrecked, but not unrepairable...we think it is an A spec. model but we are not sure...it does not have the A spec. spoiler, but that could have become missing in whatever accident occured...is there a way to tell by the vin # if it is an A spec. car? just curious...thanks

Price my 2004 Acura Rsx Type S?
Need to sell, moving out of country in 12 months. So I have time to put for bid/negotiate etc. History: bought it new in 2004. 1st owner. No accidents. ALL maintenance records in hand. Clean carfax in hand dated 8/2019. Condition: 20K MILES. Passes smog. Pearl white oem paint. Garaged 99% of the year. I drive it 10 miles a week to stretch its legs then right back in the garage. no scratches, no oxidation, no swirl marks, no shopping cart dings, not even yellow headlights. Orig tires and wheels Smells great :) washed and waxed 3x /yr. Mods (I know doesnt mean anything but i will mention anyway): AEM intake Eibach lowering springs Custom Exhaust head to tail (done professionally no check engine light) A pillar gauge cluster. All Done by the same clean reputable shop with ALL papers in hand. Fun fact: I was flagged down by a Japanese man on the vegas strip who told me " your car numba 1!" And then another time a man told me @ a stoplight " you have the cleanest RSX yooooo!"

Where are the vin numbers and k20a2 or a3 Identifications
I have a 2004 rsx bases moddle with I believe the type s stuff swapped into the car has 6 speed clutch. And leather where are the vin numbers located on the block? so I can identify if it’s a k20a2 or a3 and do the transmissions have vins too I’d like to see that too if they exist I’m getting car inspected soon Also the cover on top of the engine is missing so I can’t tell what kinda vtec it has that’s why I need the block identifications And the truck lid has missing badges The k20a2 is performance vtec K20a3 is eco vtec correct me if I’m wrong

04 Acura rsx type s
I have this 04 rsx type s and it needed a lot of stuff done like fuel pump with filters, injectors, sparks and even the cat and a universal o2 sensor and it's still giving me a p0302 for misfire and a cylinder 4 I dont know what else it could be would you happen to have some insight on what possibly is wrong like a compression test or a leak down test?
