The 2003 Ford Explorer Sport was a lame-duck model; Ford had announced its plans to discontinue the two-door Explorer Sport, which no longer really had any unique selling qualities in an overcrowded SUV marketplace.
The flagship Explorer was still selling like mad, and the smaller Escape had pretty much eclipsed the Explorer Sport's market share, so the guys in Dearborn decided they'd pull the plug after the 2003 model year.
With this in mind, there were no significant changes made to the 2003 Explorer Sport. Two trimlines were offered, XLS and XLT, rather than the selection of options packages that had been available in previous model years. Buyers also had a choice of rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The '03 Ford Explorer Sport wasn't distinguished by its power; its 4.0 liter, single overhead cam V6 put out 205 horsepower and 240 lb.-ft. of torque. Gas mileage clocked at 15 mpg city, 20 mpg highway.
The short half-life of the Ford Explorer Sport ended not with a bang, but a whimper. It really was the little SUV that got left behind.
I have a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport they currently have P235/75R15 tire's and bought 4 new tires only these tire's are P235/55R17 will they fit on the rim I am currently using or do I need to buy different rims to fit fit these tire's on?
So my ford has the 4.0 v6 and a manual transmission. On my way home from work I noticed my truck did not seem as responsive as normal. As i was driving it keep getting harder and hard to stay at 65 having to push the pedal down alot father than normal to keep speed and average RPM sitting at 3500 to 4000 when noramlly making thsi trip its sits at 2500 in fifth gear. It also started smelling like hot clutch so i stopping trying to push itand just make it home. When i made it to my drive way it became extremely slugish to respond to the gas pedal and sitting at 3500 rpm again just to drive at 15 mph in first. Also it didnt seem like engaging the clutch made any difference it still shifts fine but if i hold the gas at a steady rpm and puched the clutch it wouldnt shoot the rpm up like it should when the clutch disengages while the gas is being pushed.
Drove fine to work today. Went to the store and when I came out it was making a loud noise under the hood that sounds like a lawnmower. When I press the gas the noise just gets much louder. All fluids are good, check engine light came on, when had it checked guy said it could be a fan sensor. Help please.
So my car wont star or crank thee starter is good but i did find thet none of the fuses under the steering wheel are getting any power.. Please tell me what causes the whole fuse box to not get any power the other fuse box is recieving power. But how can i fix the problem to the fuse box so that it gets power
