The PT Cruiser entered its second year of production in 2002, following a year of reviewer praise and great consumer curiosity. Chrysler could not build enough PTs in 2001 to satisfy the demand, but both production and variety were increased for 2002.
The 2001 PT Cruiser was offered only in Base and Limited Trims, but two new variants are now available. The Touring finish, which was previously an option package, is now a trim level. Chrysler has also added the Dream Cruiser Series. New special appearance packages for the PT also have a retro focus: wood-paneled sides or flame decals are now available.
The PT's unique body style is certainly head-turning, but it is also functional. Seating arrangements are highly configurable, and the extra height allows for greater cargo capacity than other compact cars. The PT offers 19 cubic feet for luggage alone.
Once again, there is only one engine choice. All models are powered by a 2.4 liter DOHC inline four, which provides 150 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Buyers may select a four-speed automatic or five-manual manual transmission, and both route power to the wagon's front wheels.
So my wife's 2002 cruiser runs hot and overheats when idle too long (drive thru, red light etc.). Checked debris between condensor and fan, fan works, coolant full, thermostat works, all relays good, changed egr valve and thoroughly cleaned egr tubing, no cracked head or head gasket problem. Getting to my wits end and ready to take long drive off short pier. Any ideas what's wrong or what else I could do to fix this problem? Please HELP!!!!!
the light on the radio only stays on for a short time, then goes out but radio still works, have had readio replaced and worked on but to no avail
I have a 2002 Cruiser with 81K I am wanting to sell. When I try to put gas in the car, the pumps always stop, I have to wait about 10 seconds, then I can put about a dollars worth in before the pump clicks off. I followed the rubber air line, at least that is what I believe the rubber tube is that runs down along the tube which leads to the tank, and noticed the rubber "air line" seems to be caulked at one end with about 1.5 inches of what appears to be black caulk sticking out which comes to a point. The tube connects to nothing. I also notice a similar piece of caulk near the tank in a small area that also comes to a point. Not sure what is going on here. Any ideas?
Power steering not working.
I have a 2002 PT Cruiser Limited Editions it does not have a factory amp the key is wore out in the ignition sometimes it would light up the backlighting on the factory radio sometimes it wouldn't I switched it out with an aftermarket pioneer double din now I have no sound to the speakers all fuses are good I tested the radio it is good I'm at a loss can somebody help
