why does transmission get stuck in park
got stuck in park for several minutes but I let it sit while i called my husband. when I got back to the car i tried again and everything was fine.

I love this car. Great for a family or as a delivery van. It has all the gadgets fo keep the kids entertained on those long trips. Plenty of space for strollers, bikes, packages, sports equipment or the whole team.Dec 08, 2014

The car fit our family very well. Plenty of cargo space to haul our belongings. Very safe and reliable. Front wheel drive handled well in all types of weather. Above average gas mileage. Heat/air control in the back was handy for the kids to control their own level of comfort.Feb 09, 2013

I love the acceleration, and braking. Good for a van.
Here's the list of things I DON'T like:
the AM radio is drowned out in static whenever I turn on the AC or Heater motor. Also, I can sometimes hear a pulsing static burst over the radio that is timed with my turn signal and an irritating escalating squeal over the AM radio bands when applying the brakes.
From research I've done online, it appears the transmission and the vulcan engine in this model has a less than stellar track record for reliability.
To be honest, I bought this vehicle from a trusted friend who just had the engine and transmission completely rebuilt. Had it not been for that consideration, I probably would not have bought the vehicle. I had a VERY bad experience in the past with a Ford Taurus wagon. It turned in a steaming heap at 90,000 miles.Aug 24, 2010

performance is'nt that bad it actually get up and goes only a 3 speed auto with overdrive. handling isn't great but it is 9years old just not as tight as i like but it big so tight could get you into some trouble. Gas mileage is about 19 mpg. Jul 02, 2010

Great traction control in the snow & ice on our mountain roads here in Western North Carolina.. Handled well up & down our nearly mile long driveway with its' one lane paved access and blind corners and hills and very little thawing or melting despite the intense sun. Very comfortable vehicle for long trips with nearly 600 miles on a tank of gasoline @ 26 mpg. This car would be even more 'fun' to drive if it were purple in color or as tall as the previous Aerostar or the Five Hundred.Jan 12, 2010

its a good van for kids and adults but if it is cold and
you leave it off for more then 2 days it wont start. the
pricing of this car is pretty low so it is affordable. the
car is nice and not so flattering to see on the road. it

This is my teacher, Gwyn's minivan that I ride in regularly. For a minivan, it actually looks pretty good, with the exception of a few dents and dings. It does not have the powerful engine or the sports car-like handling of the Honda Odyssey, but it gets the job done. It was purchased from the original owner a few years for only $6,000 after it had been sitting unused for a year (the woman could barely see, and her husband, who drove the van regularly, had died). The van did need some work due to sitting so long, and some of the problems included the air-conditioner not working and the hoses being dryrotted, but it had less than 30,000 original miles and it still had the plastic on the third row seat. Everything works as of now, with the exception of the front power door locks, and just a few days prior to my writing this, a radiator hose went, and the van started spewing antifreeze.
As of December, 2008, the van has a little over 51,000 miles on the odometer, and the power locks are the only thing that don't work. It is a nice vehicle, but I'd still buy a Honda or a Toyota.Dec 20, 2008

transmission clunks when shifting gears?
Transmission started shifting with a loud clunk.I added 1/2 quart of fluid and the clunk went away.It now shifts normal but the dipstick says the oil is 2 quarts overfull of transmission fluid?
