Not going to find another car for this cost and this low mileage! This was my grandmother's vehicle. It was used lightly and cared for well. She used it mainly as an around town car to go back and forth to the grocery store when she was still able to drive.Feb 20, 2012

the new motor has a 10000 mile warranty it is in fair condisoin it has big dent in side door the van needs tran work that is why i am selling the van cheep the van has a 3000.00 dollar motor in it!!Sep 29, 2011

I really dont like the handling on the van. Maybe because its an older model. I love the fact that it has alot of leg room. And so much room for cargo.In a way it is a fun car to drive. Not good mileage but fun. Mar 02, 2011

This vehicle is very roomy and hauls up to 7 people or anything else. Maintenance has been low. Performs well in any type of weather condition. Good looking inside and out, hold up to the element (weather and children) Comfortable ride with plenty of storage room in the back Nov 22, 2010

Bought this vehicle used, and was pleasantly suprised with the peppiness and acceleration. It has 240K miles on it and I wouldn't be suprised if it goes another couple hundred thousand.The interior controls could have been laid out a bit better, but all in all I have beem happy with this vehicle.Nov 28, 2009

I only gave it 5 stars because it wouldnt let me give it 6. Yet another durable Ford, we tried so hard to blow it up and it wouldnt. Transmission had no fluid for awhile and did countless redline nuetral drops into drive....also 30mph in reverse, dump into drive, massive burnout, transmission was still perfect. It broke all the time and never worked quite right. The
steering didn't work very well and made grinding
sounds. I don't think the gas mileage was good at all
but I don't have a number. It probably isn't a fun

Performance- Not the best but it does have strong 3.8 v6 rated at 200 hp. i mean its not great but its pretty good for a minivan
Build quality- its had a lot of problems with the emission system and the transmission blew out 25000 miles ago.
Appearance- Perfect... if you're a soccer mom, but im gonna customize it so it will be lookin fly when im through with it

This mini-van has held up pretty well despite bad quality reviews. Mine is 11 years old and has 99000 miles on it. Knock on wood I have never done motor or tranny work on it. The rear wiper just stopped working and the motor for it was replaced at 65000. getting rusty around the rocker panels and front wheel bearings are shot like most front-wheel drive domestics I have experienced. A little bit of care can go a long way. I feel this mini-van has a bit more torqey feel than others with v-6's in it's class. If I was getting a new mini-van, I would drive the Ford first.Feb 06, 2009

The sport family truckster! What can I say, it's a mini-van but it's a sweet mini-van. The 3.8 V-6 provides more than enough get up and go while delivering decent mileage. With over 170,000 miles on the clock we still get 26 mpg hwy with six full size adults! Other than a few wear items it has been relatively trouble free.Jan 09, 2009

I had this van for about 8 months before I scraped it, it was very roomy for seven people, and had power, easy to merge on highways and accelerate (I had the 3.8 L engine). Major problem was rust, but thats common on Ontario's cars. Maintenance was a pain, doing something simple like new spark plugs were a real pain, 3 spark plugs in the rear were under the windshield, and could only be accessed from underneath. Rear windshield wiper motor broke, rust in door frames, hatch, quarterpanels, anywhere you look, there is rust to be found, either big or little. Overall, a good minivan for a used vehicle.
Mine broke down 3 weeks ago due to a torque converter and transmission failure, common on these Wndstars of this year, I scraped mine.Jun 15, 2008

Having driven this car along with a Dodge Ram Van 1500, Ford Windstar, GMC Safari and Plymouth Voyager for work, I must say that this car compares rather unfavorably to the competition. Driving this car in a cargo van version, the first thing that hits you about it is how incapable at towing anything this vehicle is (3.0 V6). With the load common to all the other vehicles I have used, this car is the one that performs the least favorably. You really wonder if there really is a V6 in that engine bay, and I can't blame it on the wear of the car I have used as I tried 3 different ones. Drivetrain reliability isn't very good and problems occur often although nowhere near as bad as the Dodge. Driving position isn't all hat great either, and I hope that the lack of arm rests is specific to the cargo models only, as this is intolerable in any vehicle designed strictly for comfort. The rear wiper sprayer is one of the most useless additions I've ever seen on a car. The fluid comes flows down the window, but so slowly that it doesn't make it low enough before being wiped-off by the wiper, so it basically washes about a half an inch wide strip of the rear window. Useless.
A good aspect of the car is it's height thus. Car sits very low, much like other standard vehicles on the road and not like SUVs or Vans, which is good when you have to reach for ladders on the top of the car for example.
Apart from the fact that the front-end looks very good, this car is NOT very cool. I wouldn't unrecommend it, but stay away from that vehicle if you can.
On a side note, the engine sounds absolutely awsome when revving high (high rpm zone in which you stay all the time anyways because the car pulls so less).Jan 13, 2008

This is a very good car. The best than I have ever had. Very confortable to drive, very powerful, fast, reliable, it drives you where you want to go. Not need big maintenance or big repair if driving correctly. But it uses a lot of fuel. Jan 07, 2008

hello, zac here. my parents have a 1998 ford windstar and im wondering what some problems with it could be. i was told they were driving down the road yesterday and something happen idk what but something happen and then theres oil squirting in the back of the engine and white smoke coming from the engine. i went to take a look at it yesterday and the whole back side of the engine wall is covered in oil and on the valve cover gasket was a hole and that was the first place i saw smoke, found the plug and plugged it in, problem one solved. but then started driving it for 20 minutes after letting it warm up, it was smoking heavy from the tail pipe loss power then popped the hood and now the white smoke if coming from the left side by the alternator, in this location but underneath by the belts and what not. im going to look at it today to see if i can jack it up and look underneath to see what going on. any ideas,

Door chime
Can the door chime be turned off..maybe pull the fuse even...it goes off nonstop whenever the keys are in it or even if just the drivers door is open and the keys are not in it. .I was trying to clean the carpet on drivers side with door open and it is going non stop..there is no little button in the door jam, or I would have just taped it in.. Im not sure that (if I find the right fuse )if it will be ok to pull it. I t seems to b the only way to shut the thing off..
