I will be driving it around as soon as I stop at alight after the battery is about dead it will sound like firecrackers going off in the engine bay and then she will start jumping. Then it will just die and I have no power and then you can jump it all you want and it will not take any charge. May 24, 2022

Just bought it so only have positive things to say about the truck so far but does need a little TLC, hopefully here soon I'll put cold air intake, headers, exhaust, and possibly a chip to somewhat improve the fuel mileageFeb 22, 2015

ive had great fuel eco, ive gotten right aroun 25-27, but ive also have it piped for perfomance, chiped, turbod, nitrous. on my 318. 0-60, 4.5 with spray. ive kept the body beat like when i got it, and in two months i put 5000km on it. itll go anywhere a 4x4 will.Feb 20, 2014

brakes are also good. It still has the factory brakes on it. It is pretty

drive, until the drone of the headers gets annoying. The one thing I'll
complain
on in the interior is the notorious cracked dash. This happens to all
late model
Dodge's, and it looks ugly. It just ruins the looks of the interior. The
gas mileage
sucks, but what was you going to expect? 30 mpg? Nooooo, not even
close. On
a good day, your probably going to get 15 mpg without ripping on it
too much.
The truck is fun to drive, but once again, the drone of the headers
gets

This has been a great truck with plenty of power can tow almost anything with it and has been 1 of the best 4x4 that i have every had. only problem is there isn't hardly any leg room in the back and probley has the worst gas miliage than any other truckNov 14, 2012

It is a very good truck for being a 1500 i have done more things with this truck then i would expect out of a 2500 and it has never let me down or sitting on the side of the road even when i put 10000 plus pounds behind it. Performance is excellent. The 5.2L Magnum V8 has no problem with acceleration, it
handles good for a truck and brakes very good. Build quality is excellent also, no
squeaks or rattles and the truck feels very solid going over bumps and rough
terrain. Appearance in my opinion is great, very good looking truck inside and out.
Cost of ownership is alright as it gets pretty good gas mileage for a truck and being
a Dodge it will run a long time. The fun factor is the best part, the Ram is very fun

I like the three inch lift that comes on the off-road package.
The 318 could be beefed up a little more.
Definitely burns the tires off.
They are good running trucks, besides the usual upkeep of the ball joints and u joints, the rust is hard to maintain. Gotta keep up on it though.

acceleration is great for this sized truck, bracking is decent, handling is good. has not needed any repairs. toolbox rattles when you break. leather seats and woodgrain on the dash. gas mileage is poor in the city but not bad in the country. fun in the mud. great driver, cab is very quiet, barely any road noise.May 22, 2010

I love that I am not being blinded by the vehicles behind me anymore. I love that it is bright red and can do just about anything I want it to. I love taking it to the beach and off roading as well. It does decent as in mileage for highways. In town sucks. But that is a truck for you. Easy to maintain which is very nice. i love my truck. its been great fun. its got a 5.9L 360 ci v8 i put a cold air intake throttle body spacer and superchip in it. i also have a 7 inch flip screen dvd player in it with two 12 inch kicker cvr's power by an 1100 watt panasanic digital amp. as for the exhuast, ive got flowtech ceramic coated shorty headers and pure straights comin back to 4 inch tipsOct 30, 2008

Best pickup ever! It came from the dealership as a total badass and with less than $1000 in mods I was running low 13s on the drag strip. It had a 360 Mopar Smallblock that was putting 420 hp and 470 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels. That thing was a rocket. The only thing I'd change was that it was 2 wheel drive but even then, if I aired down the tires, she'd go damn near anywhere. I mis that rig and i can't wait to get another one. But BIGGER!! It sucked gas, but it was a great truck. I loved everything about it. Had a couple maintenance issues here and there, but most was user inflicted.

The extended cab was a nice step up from my 95 Standard Cab. The 5.9L engine has more than enough power for anything I ever plan on accomplishing with a 1500, and the gas milage didnt very enough to notice from my 5.2. Mar 27, 2008

the porcelain broke on the front two passenger side spark plugs but all 4 on the passenger side is seized how can i get them out without taking the head off i have tried welding a metal rod to them but the welds snapped it was a mig weld though but ive tired easy outs but i had to build up weld because the drill bits wont drill threw the porcelain that is left on the plugs but the easy out i don't think will work i really need help with this because i don't wanna take off the head its a 2001 dodge ram 1500 its got the 5.9L v8 magnum

2001 Dodge 5.9 Dies when gets warm and gauges quit working until cooled off.
We have a 2001 Dodge 1500 4wd ranch truck with the 5.9 in it. It died on us about a mile and a half from home, so I tinkered with it while waiting for the side by side to show up, never would start. It started just fine, and got us home, the next morning. This morning I started it up and just let it idle...and it died after about 20 minutes when it got warm. I went immediately to try and restart it and it would just turn over. STRANGELY, I noticed that none of the gauges moved when I turned the key on. About an hour later I went out and turned the key on and the gauges (batter, gas, etc..) went to their correct spots and it started right up. Thought that was weird so I let it idle again and get warm, same exact thing happened...died, guages didn't work, cooled off, gauges worked, and it started. Any ideas out there in this brain trust? Thanks a million folks.
