Low engine oil level light
I just purchased a 2001 Chevrolet camaro, with a 3.8 v6 engine, and I changed the oil and since that the low engine oil light stays on while the level on dipstick shows full? Any ideas? Thanks

Always been a fan of Camaro's since I drove my first 1984 Z28 H/O. I graduated to a 1997 Z28, LT1 power, and I was very much impressed. When I heard about the power and reliability of the LS1 over the LT motors, I had to try one out. When I did I was yet again impressed. I've owned 2 LS1 Camaro's since. The sheer power and reliability of these motors is proven again and again, in numerous swaps and stock setups since 1997. You can throw everything your foot can handle at these motors, and they keep on kicking. 4th generation LS1 cars are a fan favorite, and they scream with power with simple bolt-ons. For the price, your getting everything you could ever want out of a sports car. Loads of HP, loads of torque, and room to play. The stock suspension hasn't always impressed me in 4th gens, so upgrading it is a must, sometimes not cheaply done. But nothing to gripe about compared to everything else these cars offer. If you ever wanted to own one, now is the time with 4th gen prices at a very affordable rate as of recent years.Jun 20, 2013

Overall very well maintained and enjoyable car. A blast to drive. Its a Camaro! Looks amazing. A head turner and very unique car. Sound system is amazing and the bass is incredible. The 2001 Camaro Z28 combines good looks and great performance resulting in a fast and fun driving experience. Powered by the (Corvette) LS1 5.7-liter V-8 engine, acceleration is not a problem.
The positives: The black leather interior looks great paired with the red exterior. (Leather) seats (front & back) and power windows. Fun, good-looking and affordable.
The negatives: The back seats are functional, but too compact to be comfortable for anyone other than a child or small adult.
Not a good vehicle for driving in rain, snow or ice.

I recently purchased this Camaro with 45,000 original miles on it, the car has the LS1 with the t-56 6 speed transmission. This is a great car to drive. If you like sports cars and making them go faster this is the perfect platform with endless possibilities and a decently priced aftermarket as well since its such a common platform. I drove this car back from atlanta and not only was it fun to drive but it also got 30mpg on the highway thanks to the 6th gear. also drove it through the twisties in north carolina and it handled like a dream.Jul 18, 2012

This car is an overall great first car. It has the starting power of a classic muscle car, but still lacking on the upper end only because it’s a v-6. It does make up for the lack of top end with a great acceleration rate. It handles like a charm and can stop on a dime. It does have a few squeaks but nothing really big. It is lacking a little bit in the interior but makes up for it with a very clean slick exterior style. For a sport/muscle car it does really well with gas mileage about 18-21 around town and 30-31 on long trips. With it being a domestic car the cost of parts is not extremely expensive. This car is definitely a fun car to drive. During the summer time it is really fun to have the T-Tops out and the windows rolled down. And with the acceleration it is really a fun car to drive.Feb 28, 2012

Loved this beauty's looks. Handled so well and was so fun and so hot to drive. Driver's controls were fairly well engineered as to placement and operation. Definitely was just a show car...back seat pretty much non-existent, but it was not the family minivan so....lol Very long heavy doors and low seat forward in the cab made entry and exit in parking lots difficult..maybe not so much if your 16 but I'm not, haha But once in...vroom vroom she was pure joy...loved it. The power is awesome, however if not experienced can get away from you
very quickly.
The look is very sleek, the hoodscoop says it all.
Because it is a sports car requires high maintence, expensive gas, expensive
oil etc.
Not a family car, back seat is very tiny and very uncomfortable and i'm 5'0 its
still to small for me.
It handles a curve with ease.
I have had no problems with it except water pump and that was at 101,000
milies
for a v8 gas economy is pretty good, unless you put cheap in or dont fill past a
half a tank.

The best GM product other than a truck or vette hands down. With the power of a LS1 to boot you will not find a better sports car from 2001 other than a Corvette, GT40, or Viper made by a American automotive group. Only downfall to these rides is the 10 bolt rear posi unit which cannot withstand a good thrashing. They should have went with a 12 bolt posi unit instead. Also, the 4L60E transmission should have been a 4L80E due to the thrashing purposes again. Reason why I believe Chevrolet didnt use these options? WEIGHT! Not a family car by any means, but with gas mileage of 24-28 mpg's for a car that is now 10 years old bordering 11 years old you cannot go wrong.Oct 20, 2011

Great performance from the V6, plenty of power but still get 19/25 mpg. Car often brings compliments, great drive with the top down, has very good aerodynamics/slipstream with the top off, not loud, easy to talk on the phone etc at speed. * Performance - acceleration = great, braking = pretty dang good, handling = pisspoor
* Build Quality - Motor is great quality, interior is lacking
* Appearance - both interior and exterior look so so...
* Cost of Ownership - 20-mpg

Automatic with a 3600 stall, LT headers ORY, plugs wires, lid, flowmaster catback, flowtech cutout, stock 2.73's in the rear end. Hawk performance brake pads. Very fun car with a lot of room for more power. ET was 12.94 at 108 mph. 26 mpg on the freeway :)Oct 23, 2009

Great car with a solid drivetrain. Weakest link is the puny 10 bolt rear. Interior is spartan but liveable. You buy one of these cars for the performance; of which it is not short of.....especially with the right combination of modifications.Jul 21, 2009

Solid F-Body altho like all others i wish they would have addressed the subframe connector issue from the factory. The transmission they gave it has to be the weakest automatic ever put into an F-Body. Other then that, can keep with any other mustang or import on its price level.Jan 21, 2009

In bang for the buck performance, its hard to go wrong. Its also impressive in the handling department if you take the time to replace the crappy stock shocks. Simple bolt ons will net you impressive gains. Dec 19, 2008

Ive owned this car over three years this is my first Z28 I have owned and I just cant seem to get rid of it it gets 23mpg and runs low 13s in the quarter!! and I havent been beat by a Mustang yet it kills my friends 01 Cobra and I just laugh at ricers plus I drive the car every day and havent had to do anything to the car but typical maintinanceOct 09, 2008

well come on, its a mustang killer, its fast, gets decent gas mileage, and is almost everything i want in a sports car. Top speed clocked 163mph. 0-60 5.25 seconds. Bought it with 77k miles on it, i have about 83k on it now, absolutely zero problems with anything. Other than changing my oil I've done relatively little maintenance to it save washing/waxing it and babying it.

01 Camaro replacement keys activates alarm and security light on dash
I recently lost both' my ignition key, and car door key for my 2001 camaro. I purchased two new keys for the ignition and doors from a chevy dealer only to find out when i went to unlock the car with the door key the alarm sounded and didnt stop for up to 4 minutes after i shut the door. I tried it again, alarm sounded once more, so i tried starting it with the new vatt key and the alarm sounded as i tried to turn it over. The car has started up without a hitch before i lost the keys, but would not even attempt to turn over with i turned the key. that's when i noticed the security light was on. after that, i locked up the car once more, locked it up with the car key and waited for the alarm to stop. once it stopped i tried to unlock again. Again the alarm sounded, would not turn over, security light remained on. At first i thought it was the chip in the vatt key that was not letting the car turn over, but I've had a similar issue with a jeep grandcherokee that when i opened the back trunk, the alarm sounded, and would not run or start properly. i later found out it was the anti-theft system that locked the car down. Please help its literally abandoned on the side of the road, no way of towing it because i cant put it in neutral.

Camaro Engine Swap with Tahoe
I have a 2001 3.8L V6 Camaro and am wanting to switch it over to a 5.7L V8. I was planning on ordering an LS1 crate engine, however I heard I could put in a 5.7L Tahoe engine with a few more modifications and come out ALOT cheaper. Has anyone done this or know if this is possible with the right components, as different engine mounts and etc.?

Crank but no start

01 Camaro actuator rod
I have the column torn down to the ignition actuator rack, how do you remove the rod, I believe it is broken. the rack it loose, it will start but have to tilt the wheel to turn it off, ignition switch replaced, ok there, so I figure the rod that attached to the rack has broken. I cannot figure out how to get it out to remove it. How do you get the back of it off, I know I have to remove the pins in the side, are is there any other screws? I'm uncomfortable at this point. Where would you purchase the discontinued rod GM part #26010649. Any help would be appreciated.
