My key is stuck in my ignition. It turns on fine. But won't go back to come out please help

A new engine option was among the upgrades made to the Volkswagen Jetta for the 2000 model year. The 1.8T, which was available as an add-on to the four-door Jetta GLS trim package, was a turbocharged 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder powerplant that generated 150 horsepower. It joined three other engine options offered for the Jetta in 2000 -- a base 115-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas engine; a 90-horsepower 1.9-liter diesel engine with the TDI (turbo direct injection) feature; and a 174-horsepower, 2.8-liter V6 for drivers who wanted a bit more power under the pedal.
In addition to the GLS with the 1.8T engine, trim packages included the four-door GL (gas engine) and GL TDI (diesel engine), the four-door GLS with the base 2.0-liter gas engine, the GLS TDI (diesel engine), and two packages with the V6, the GLS and the GLX. All Jetta trim packages for 2000 came with a five-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. A four-speed automatic was available as an option.
Standard equipment for the GL and GL TDI included air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, power door locks, dual airbags, tilt steering, and an AM/FM/cassette audio system. The GLS packages added cruise control (also standard on the GL TDI) and power windows, while the GLX V6 added leather seats and a sunroof.
Drivers gave positive marks to the Jetta's handling, acceleration, value, safety features, braking, and reliability, though some noted that the car's fuel economy wasn't as good as its competitors'. Some drivers noted problems with the car's "fit and finish," such as its exterior trim and interior plastic parts. Cup holders were noted by several drivers as being less than durable.

I enjoy it. The car looks nice and the sunroof is a nice addition. Very comfortable to drive. Very quiet on the interior whether you're driving locally or on the highway. Didn't need to be taken to the shop often. Gas mileage is great, I'd say i get 28-30mpg. Replacement parts were a little difficult to find but you can find them at a fair price online. The handling of the car is great, it helped me avoid a couple of close calls on the road. Overall good car for daily commuting.Jun 17, 2014

volkswagen jetta gls is a strong mostly reliable you only need to do brake change if you are a rough driver like me, but generally vw jetta is better than most american cars mostly like chevy and its affordable and portableJun 19, 2013

Its my first car and i absolutely love it to death, lots of power, very reliable, looks good. Its pretty average on gas, i get up to 450 km on a tank which isn't bad, but could be better. I strongly suggest it to all other people thinking about getting one. Aug 07, 2012

All TDI owners know what you buy a TDI for: Fuel Economy. With the cost of fuel continually increasing, the TDI is a great way to beat the price of fuel. The TDI gets anywhere from 40-50 MPG depending on transmission choice, how you drive it and if the car is in need of service. The interior is adequate for a small car, though the backseat is cramped. There is plenty of trunk space and a decent audio system. The engine has plenty of low end torque, but the power tends to top off after 3000-4000 RPM not gaining much. 5 Speed manual recommended.Aug 01, 2011

Performance: Smooth, accelerates well, and brakes like a charm!
Build Quality: Except for a few loose parts like the front grill, she's solid!
Appearance: Looks great on the outside, couple nicks and tiny dents, and interior is fabric which is grey, whereas the dash is black.
Cost: Good on gas, so far maintenance isn't bad!

Lots of fun to drive especially because of the manual trasmition: you are in charge, having full control on your gas millage & acceleration capabilities!
Average gas millage is 22 miles per gallon in town & 33 miles on the interstate, pretty good for a V6 ;)Apr 10, 2011

Love love my Jetta... Had a few minor problems with the electric system, had to replace some spark plugs and needed to change my struts bt other than that everything is great.It almost makes traffic fun. Very fast and the brakes has nice handling. I fun that my V6 and turbo only use alot of gas but when im like racing or something. overall great!Jun 02, 2010

I love my Jetta, a fun car, fun to drive, excellent road feel, great acceleration, handling & braking (ABS). occational electrical problems, repaired by my VW mechanic (now runs great). Beautiful car. I like it a lot, the VR6 has power to spare
for a compact car. GLS has every option. Beige leather
interior, power everything, moon roof, climate control,
cruise, 6 disc changer in trunk, 4 wheel discs, heated
seats and mirrors. Handles very well, the 5-speed helps
that VR6 engine get up and go pretty quickly. The only
down side is having to put a minimum 91 octane in the car
and synthetic oil and the high price of European parts,
but thats the price you pay to drive most German
vehicles. Comfortable, stylish and overall fun to drive,

Amizing amounts of torque and power with little modification. Some clear coat peeling on front grill and hood. Even with more than 200 horse power still gets about 30 miles per gallon of gas. Car interior is immaculate for being 9 years oldAug 11, 2009

Peppy little 2 litre motor, looks classic, build quality is quite good on outside, a bit of noise from old trim on inside. Great on gas, costs nothing to maintain, runs like a dream. Would definitely recommend this car to any student.Jul 09, 2009

The car is pretty quick and has great acceleration. Handling is superb and never has a problem taking tight turns at speed.
The car is built great from the ground up. I dislike the plastic front and rear valences but upgrades are available.
The appearance of the car is very sharp and aggressive looking especially with the addition of a BOSER hood.
The car gets about 20-25 MPG. take like 25-30 to fill the tank and gas is at 2.53 a gallon.

great car for an everyday driver or someone looking for some kick to their ride. Even simply being a 2.0L 115 HP engine, it still give a good amount of kick hen the pedal is pressed. The 1.8T engine is perferred, but also a higher base price. but roughly receiving 25 MPG city and 30 MPG highway, and German engineering and reliability, its great for anyone looking for a good time without burning too much of a hole in their wallet.Apr 14, 2008

The acceleration is decent, braking is really good, interior could use some work like the back cupholders aren't very functional. The front window clips have broken and need to be replaced. Diesel engine is awsome and barely audible, never missed a start even in the worst weather canadian climate could throw at it. Some parts are somewhat shaky thus, but build construction is terrific ! Feels like a much higher priced car than it is.
I was most skeptic about VW and used to swear I'd never own one of those... I was never that much surprised by a car.
Only problem is the constant appearance of the check engine light because of very badly designed anti-pollution systems which clog up intake pipes and crass sensors.Jan 24, 2008

Beautiful style, great design, well built and solid, loaded as standard.
Performance is quite spritely considering only 2lts and auto.
Cost of ownership is minimal, usual maintenance, although with higher quality(higher price) parts. Mileage good.

2000 VW Jetta won't shift into gear
I have a 2000 VW Jetta that won't go into any gear. The car is an automatic, but it has been sitting for about 6 months because I've been out of state. The battery needs to be charged but I don't know if that effects anything. When I shift from park to any other gear, it acts as if its in neutral and just rolls no matter how much I rev. My "check engine" light is on, and I had taken it to a local auto shop to get the electrical check on it and was told that my torque converter was malfunctioning. Trying give as much detail as I can but im new to this, just looking for help.
