2000 nissan pathfinder turns over but will not start?
We have checked fuel pump, filter ect. It has enough pressure. We have cleaned the battery terminals. Checked all spark plugs.

Nissan's mid-size SUV may seem a little stuffy and outdated when put up against the newly introduced youthful and outdoors-oriented Xterra, but the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder provides reliable SUV cargo versatility and ride height with the easy of car-like handling -- a combination many soccer moms are looking for. After being updated in 1999, the 2000 Pathfinder is pretty much unchanged.
The two rows of seats fit five passengers, though the back seat is probably best suited for children. Seats fold 60/40 for up to 85 cubic feet of cargo space. There are three trim levels, all powered by the same 3.3-liter, 170-hp V6 engine, which feels a bit anemic in an SUV. Next year's model is set to have a bigger 3.5-liter engine with 240-hp. Towing capacity is rated at 5000 pounds, but owners report a lot of noise and whining when going uphill with the 2000 Pathfinder. All of the SUV models come with either rear-wheel drive or part-time 4WD, ABS brakes and dual front-side airbags. The XE and luxury LE feature a 4-speed automatic, while the sportier SE has a choice of the auto tran or 5-speed manual.
Moving up from the base XE to the SE gives you power features, step rails, heated mirrors, titanium gauges, and leather trim. The LE adds running boards, a compass, faux wood trim, and exterior chrome accents. Among the options are a sunroof, leather seats, and side impact airbags. The overwhelming complaint about the 2000 Pathfinder is the underpowered engine and the poor gas mileage (15/19). Other criticisms mention the cramped backseat and small doors that hamper access, and the poor performance of the 4WD. On the plus side, drivers say it handles more like a car, has a smooth ride, and they feel safe inside.

Car runs great still at 170,000 miles but because of rear main seal leak at 150,000 miles it doesn't warrant putting another engine into car. Inside, outside of car still looks like when I bought it. I would buy another Pathfinder.Jun 24, 2013

Perfect for out doorsey people. You can load tents, kayaks, gill, coolers, bags and still have more room leftover for the kids. haha Also, doesn't matter if you're off the beaten path, it rides like a dream. I highly recommend it for a small family.Sep 13, 2012

nice to drive, not as high as a landcruiser but higher then the mazda was. can't wit to take it on a long drive. stretch out the gears!!! Such a nice soccor mummy car, i have been told! Great 4x4.Jan 21, 2010

*sobs* we lost our Pathfinder this November, and I am still
sad about it.
The car was great in the snow, and when we took it off road,
the few times I got to drive it, it was a blast. Never did this
car go wrong once. The only problem was it was hard to shift
into first gear sometimes, but it was towed cross country and
back again, plus on several other trips as well. A little heavy
as a tow car, but still great in very other way. Can't
say, if you have a dark green 5spd with a tow package in the
Portland Or area you have our car, treat it nicely please
recommend this car enough for anyone looking for a good

Timing Belt Replacement
Replacing my timing belt on my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. I could use some advice because i've watched some videos saying that the rotor head in the rotor cap is pointing to the number one sparkplug before removing the timing belt. Also on this new timing belt, pictured, are the arrows facing me as in towards the front of the car (does nor say FR/R)? Tips for aligment?

Will not stay running
Will run till engine gets warm then dies. Will start right back up when it cools down. Engine sounds great. Have replaced quite a few things trying to fix it.
