My Car cut off while I was driving and would not restart?
The Radio and all the electrical instruments are working fine, including the air and heat. Do I just need a new battery?

I love the look of this car! I mainly drove it back and forth to work (7 - 10 minutes from home), and around town.
This car has one of the most comfortable ride I have ever seen. It definitely lives up to its luxury sedan classification.
The build quality is very solid, and visibility is very good. Gas mileage is decent -350-375 miles on average from a single tank.
Repair costs are fair to expensive - it depends where you take it - Independent Saab local specialists are my preference.

I bought the car used, the dealer failed to divulge the A/C was working, and it needed about 2,500 in repairs. Secondly, it needed a cassette replaced, which was leaking onto the spark plugs. No fun, luckily I caught it in time.
Frankly the car, just drove and drove. Really with all those investments it was a good car. I really enjoyed driving it, it was good for my family. It has the speed and everything else necessary for getting around town for an older car and looks great!Oct 17, 2014

If i had to buy another i would in a heart beat. it rides great handles well and is very quiet inside. The turbo makes it fun plus the wagon makes it good for packing up the kids and gear to out on the weekends. Apr 05, 2014

I Loved this car and would not buy another for all the cons listed above. They just outweigh the pros, I am sorry to say.
I bought the car new and ten years later, when I opened the door it still smelled new. I still was excited to drive it.

Great car, has never let me down.
Very comfortable ride, and interior.
Love the heated front and back seats.
Lots of great safety features for it's time, and a great safety rating.
Huge trunk, and back seats lay down flat for tons of space.
Even thought this is a full sized sedan, it still feels quick and nimble on

Very powerful, reliable, comfortable and fast. Comes with an executive
style look, long battery life, economic gas consumption. These are
obviously no longer on the market (these models) but you sure can get a
good deal for a good used one. It's very fun to drive and foremost very
comfortable leather interior. Saab cars is originally Swedish, they built the
engines replicating jet technology (scania) which gave these models and

Performance 0 - 100 abt 10 sec (some small mods!), excellent brakes, top
speed -
faster than I ever want to go! Beautifully finished, good looking, specially the
beige
interiorior and dashboard styling. Does abt 8 L per 100 km, nicest car to drive
that
I have ever had (although not as MUCH FUN as a Golf 1).
I have made some small upgrades to the (9 speaker, 5.1 channel) sound
system, only plays CD's, no DVD's. but sounds quite good.
This car has many thoughtful features that I like - "Night Panel", a lot of
courtesy interior lights.
Handling on winter roads is nothing short of amazing.
I have had nothing to repair on this car, except for replacing the rear shock

The space and comfort of ride is great, quite juicy on fuel.
At the moment has'nt needed any costly repairs so very relible.

Performance- The acceleration is good. When you hit 115 you can feel the entire car shift. The handling is not as tight as I wish, but that is expectable for a larger car.
Build Quality- I was recently hit head on, and it was barely noticeable that i had been hit at all.
Appearance- Interior is very luxurious. Exterior it needs some things to spice it up.
Cost- Repairs are very expensive and the gas mileage isn't very good.
Fun Factor- The car is sick to drive. Windows down, turbo whistling, stereo blasting, and subs pounding.Jul 18, 2009

Acceleration was very quick, smooth. Good handling in multiple conditions. Braking and suspension were good. The quality of the car was good and for the cost it was a great deal. The interior was luxury while the exterior could add a few touches. This car was definitely fun to drive.May 30, 2009

Performance - Fast enough to humiliate many a boy racer at the lights!
Build Quality - Brilliant, no squeaks even after 10 years! Other than the Crankshaft Ventilation defect, perfect!
Appearance - Not the best looks-wise, needs wheels larger than 15"!
Cost of Ownership - Not bad considering it's size/performance- £1400 insurance, £80 fuel per month
Fun Factor - Good to drive, can handle moderately well in the dry - keep an eye on the fuel consumption though!Mar 11, 2009

I love my 9-5. It is one of the most comfortable cars that I've ever ridden in. I put about 30k miles a year on it, so I need to like my car. It's fun to drive and still stylish after 10 years. Overall quality has been good. I've owned for 80k miles and have 190k on it total. I've had a few common Saab issues, but can't complain at all. Put it in sport mode and it's very fun to drive. It will jump in and out of traffic and keep up with anything that I encounter on the road. I love having a car rarely seen on the road and also performs on the high end.
On quality... in 80k miles in two and half years I have had to replace air compressor, transmission mount, blower moter, and heater by pass valve.... so I've been happy. I've put $2500 in it, but most has been because of how much I drive. it drives like it has 50k miles on it and overall is just great car. Dec 18, 2008

Good when the turbo cuts in, but usually don't get good boost until second gear (30km-60km). Average from 0-80km, very good from 80km-180km ;)
Saab parts are expensive, but can be imported yourself (I have done so) Service at SAAB is expensive - found good SAAB servicer in Perth though

twas st1 tuned by hirsch, looked fantastic limited to 155mph top speed....
safe comfy and still doing 32+mph on 99ron fuel
in 9 years i have never had to put a drop of oil in this car between services (just as well with the price of mobil1)... best thing is the mid range poke.. quicker than a porshe911 in some scenarios from a family saloonAug 07, 2008

Very fun because it's a standard. The one thing I don't like about the car is that it has a lot of little electrical problems. I love the drink holders. The high and low beams are very bright (good visibility). I love the color black always looks good for cars. Leather interior. Heated and air conditioned seats.Jul 14, 2008

My 3rd SAAB and despite the meddling by General Motors it remains a properly good car. Rides very well and gets good fuel economy.... and it goes around corners and accelerates pretty well. Much less expensive to maintain than a BMW, Benz, Volvo or even a Subaru. May 11, 2008

Saab - Car "jumps/shakes" on uphill in 4th and 5th gear & often takes multiple turns of key to start.
The issues do not seem related but they both started around the same time so figured I would ask together. The "jump/shake" on uphill happening more and more frequently now. When it happens it just sputters and keeps going, no engine rev or anything like that. For the issue turning the car on...there is more than enough power and the battery is oldish but in good shape (and I tested a brand new battery and same problem). Often takes 5-10 seconds of solid cranking, and often 2-3 cranks, before engine rolls over (always rolls over though eventually). Had two mechanics look at it, last mechanic replaced a long black box, forget the name, but had 3-4 comparents in it, and it was about 1.5 feet long. And that replacement did exactly nothing to fix it (except cost me $385, Bleh) Thanks for anyone's help! Mike
