the passenger doors and rear compartment door will not unlock on 1999 land rover discovery
the door locks will not unlock from dash board switch or manually. I tried to lift the latch and pull the handle but they will not unlock

I like the fact that the Discovery has a very advanced AWD and off-road system. I has very comfortable suspension and outstanding build quality. The visibility is great thanks to the large windshield and the many rear windows. You feel very "in-control" when driving this vehicle.
My biggest complaint is the MPG. Its EPA ratings are 14CITY/17HWY/15-16COMBINED.
But then again, I think I'm willing to make that sacrifice to be able to go off-road and avoid getting stuck in traffic. At least this way I know I won't be getting stuck at all.Mar 06, 2015

The Series 1 Discovery maintains its roots to the original vehicles with the manual differential lock 4WD and few electronics. The ride is amazing for a vehicle which can do so much off-road. The double moon-roofs bring in a lot of light and the classic 'Alpine Windows' in the back provide that unique Land Rover feel. Do the scheduled maintenance and you may never need to buy another car; it is built to last a lifetime!Sep 03, 2013

the car is great for long trips, and very confortable, but has many flaws.
its very rough, it breaks down all the time, fuel economy is horrible, its

Not a bad SUV. Needs 89 octane gas though... With the V8, all be it a small one, the mileage kinda sucks. For such a large looking SUV, the back seat is barely big enough for my 4 year old's car seat...Jan 27, 2011

It takes alot of gas but it is a very stylish/attractive. It has another gear for Off Roading.. so its braking and handling is very good..This car is very fun to drive because you get alot flattering looks and alot of head nods...Nov 12, 2009

whats not to like??? its a land rover. sure it has problems but what cars dont. is it unreliable? any car when not taken care of will become unreliable. land rovers are a go anywhere do anything vehicle, and there is not a better one anywhere.Jan 20, 2009

Help pls! We have a Landrover Discovery 2 1999 that we have lost the keys for. Local dealer is telling us we need to pay over $2000 to order a key from Uk which will take over 3 weeks.
Car isnt at home but told it cant be towed either because we cant get in the car and its parked in a car park. Rang another dealer who gave us key code, Eka and has posted a key kit to us. Local dealer saying key kit wont work because u need to have a programmed key to program the new one. Got a key cut at locksmith to try to enter EKA while in lock down mode but can turn right to complete EKA. Everyone giving different advice and still hasnt helped to atleast get car home/ to dealer. Been in the car park for 5 days!
