There were multiple cosmetic changes to the 1999 Z3 but not alterations to the "love it or hate it" body style that would have to wait until the 2000 model year for an overhaul.

Among the changes that were made in 1999 included the addition of standard, side impact air bags as well optional cruise control, a removable hardtop with a heated rear window, halogen free-form fog lights, and an in-dash CD player.

Beyond the cosmetic changes, 1999 was the year BMW upgraded the 1.9 liter engine previously included in the basic models to the 2.5 liter that produced 170 horsepower -- a 32 point jump from the previous year.

Everything works the best of what it was made of. I love everything about my BMW Z3. No other car brand can dare come close, to the ultimate driving machine . BMW, the best I know, everyday I turn her on. And go on the open road. with the top down. Halla!May 03, 2013

This car is so much fun to drive, and to look out from (at a low road level). I feel connected to the best classic car designs and implementation of all time of the joy of cars. It's an emotional high for me everytime I see it or drive it.Nov 30, 2012

This a a great car. Really great toy to play with. fast acceleration good breaks...little sloppy on hig speed cornering but otherwise great fun. The leaks when raining is a bit annoying but the fun is always overshadowing it...Dec 28, 2010
