why does my engine shut off while driving
While I'm driving on the freeway my engine will shut off like it's not getting enough gas, after about 10 seconds the engine kicks in and I'm driving back to normal speed again

My 97 2dr 4x4 tahoe sport has 489784.0 miles runs perfect.3 rearends,2 transmissions,1transfer case, the 5 7 has had reg oil changes ,k&n air filter ,magna flo exhaust,33x12.5x18 mud tires.18plusmpg town/hwy orignal shocks ect i work this tahoe play hard,and it will out corner handle almost any rice burner thru the mountains on or off pavement. And the body zero damage/rust this champagne burgundy is 2nd only to my 72 k5 blazer!!!! Apr 03, 2022

No comparison I have always wanted a Tahoe for myself . I bought one 5 years ago it’s a 2 wheel drive with a 4 inch body lift running 33 ~12.50 with 15by 12 inch wheels I have only changed oil in it one time and put tires on it I payed 4 grand for it and thought it was a little expensive for the model n mileage but no repair coasts at all none what so ever so if I had to do it again I would ! It’s the best vehicle I have ever owned and I also can go literally anywhere I want and have been some places 4 wheel drive vehicles couldn’t go to at times . I was a Ford man through n through but this BIG BEAST as my youngest daughter calls it has literally turned my head the other way toward Chevrolet . Trust me it was well worth and besides Aubrey my daughter wouldn’t have it any other way than to own a BIG BEAST TAHOE !!!!!!put a heater core in it take your time be cautious and think before doing all old dogs can learn new tricks I worked for a dealer ship for like 15 years it’s a little of a pain in the dear rear to pull the dash to do it correctly but believe you me if its worth doing it’s worth doing correctly and as far as the truck it’s been very well worth it so I really don’t mind doing it correctly cause it’s the only major repair I’ve had to have done to it since I bought it 5 years ago oh and one other thing there really is no other suv that any one I think that could compare the Tahoe two and it’s only a 2 wheel drive dressed up like a four wheel drive Jan 23, 2022

Have had two tahoes and loved them both they are great for everything no real problems and after your done with factory shocks you can up grade and get some bags for when you tow and bang you have a sweet ride. I like taking the decals off and adding a layer of tint in the back three/four windows.Jul 03, 2013

If you take care of this 1997 vehicle properly, you won't have to replace much at all and easily do 300,000 miles with it. For example, I've had to replace the serpentine belt and re adjust the roaders because of my own lack of driving experience in the beginning. And which wasn't my fault to replace are the rear shocks. Bottom line though, this is a great vehicle, I can't express it enough. Jun 25, 2013

Its handling and braking abilities are good considering the size of the vehicle. It does great offroad and is comfortable and roomy. The gas mileage is the only down side to owning this vehicle seeing as its a V8 half ton it uses a lot of fuel other than that maintenance and repairs are economical and usually can be done yourself if you have any knowledge of Chevy small block 350's.May 12, 2013

in my opinion the 94 to 98 chevy ck model of trucks and suvs are the best looking trucks chevy has put out before or since. the vortech 350 is much more powerful than previous models with throttle body efi. although the 5.3 ls series motors went leaps and bounds above that. in my opinion chevy trucks have always been of the highest quality. and even though my tahoe is showing its age mostly due to my abuse i still wouldnt give it up for anything.Oct 29, 2010

Great Truck... impresive on sand ans snow... everything fits inside of it, including bunk beds and tables... strong, and powerful it even survived a heas on colission with a concrete wall and was able to drive it back to the garage.
Has one of the worst mileages ever, poor handling, and the steering isn't exactly acurate and doesn't give you good feedback... could have more power for the displacement it comesJun 01, 2010

strong acceleration from 350-ci V8 with plenty of towing power. 12 years old, but looks and feels brand new. Classic clean, angular Chevy truck styling. average 15 MPG, better than people I know with 6 cylinder TrailBlazers. I loved everything about my 97 Tahoe, except it did not have rear AC. It was very hot in the rear, but I sat up front, so I loved it. I did a little work on the air intake and boosted my MPG to 23 on the hiway and 18 in town.May 19, 2009

Swiss Army Knife of vehicles. I treat mine more as a short-box pickup with a non-removable canopy. Underneath the 'fancy' station-wagon utility lies a real half-ton truck.
Personally, this vehicle fits nicely with my mechanical skill set. There is not one part on this truck I wouldn't consider re&re'ing myself. (Unlike my previous early 90's Pontiac GTPs, which needed lots of special 'J' tools to perform ordinarily simple things like changing the front shock absorbers)
As it is actually a truck, and given basic service, I believe it should last almost forever in an urban setting. It's great in parking lots as it has a very tight turning radius for a 4x4.
Fuel costs are not much worse than the smaller, 3.4 V6, Pontiac GTP. (Mind you... Seeing as it's a Sport Futility Vehicle it promotes a more sedate driving style than the, very much more sporty, GTP)Nov 20, 2008

Brownish, 4 door, 4 wheel drive, Chevy Tahoe. Camo seat covers for the front seats. Roomy back seat with big trunk area. Seats around 5 with seatbelts. You could fit 5 behind the back seat east. Brand new brakes. Great thick tires. Good radio. Pretty fast for a bigger truck. Around 176,000 miles on it. I love driving it. She's a beast!!Aug 05, 2008

The '97 Chevy Tahoe is a vehicle designed to tow and to go off road. We have taken ours off roading and it does quite well. Although the gas mileage is shocking, it barely complains when towing an 6,000 pound trailer.Jan 25, 2008

So I have 2 cracked heads on 5.7 vortec on .y chevy tahoe.
