1995 Dodge Avenger Preview summaryImage

Introduced in 1995, the Dodge Avenger is a 2-door sports coupe that boasts a surprisingly roomy interior for a comfortable ride, yet exterior styling and acceleration that doesn't let you forget its sporty nature.

The 1995 Avenger replaced the old Dodge Daytona and is available in both a base and ES model. The base model is a standard 2.0 liter, 140-horsepower four-cylinder engine, whereas the ES is a 2.5 liter V6 155-horsepower. While the base model is available in both 5-speed and automatic, the ES was only offered as an automatic and is difficult to modify. Fuel economy is about 20/29, but with a 16-gallon tank on the ES, that gets you pretty far.

While both versions offer nice handling and excellent braking, the V6 model obviously offers a smoother, quieter ride with better acceleration. Drivers praise the 1995 Avenger's roominess in both the front and back seats, which comfortably fit four, and its sporty exterior and gas mileage. Complaints range from multiple repairs and transmission problems to a noisy ride.

this is a good car for a novice grease monkey with a few tools and basic mechanical knowledge, but if you have to pay someone else to check the oil for you, then this is not the car for you. the 4 speed automatic transmission has a bad reputation for failing usually due to people using the wrong fluid and the older style parts witch have been revised for rebuilds. the 2.0 dohc engine is good as long as keep up with the service intervals. for some reason, most of the parts houses say "part not available" when trying to find parts, however, parts for a Mitsubishi eclipse and other dsm cars are usually in stock and some are an exact mach. (not sure why). good car but make no mistake, you will have to get your hands greasy here and there to keep it on the road.Nov 16, 2014

Like the style of this year. Every time I think about getting her painted she breaks. I'm thinking about getting a paint job on her. Getting pretty old, not many on the read. The new model has no personality like this one.Apr 11, 2014
