My car will crank but it wont start.
I have a 1993, 3.1 Chevy lumina that will crank but wont start it has a new battery, alternator, fuel pump, and spark plugs on it. So can anyone please give me an idea or what could be my problem..

One good memory of driving this car was when returning from a long trip to visit with my mom. When returning home, I was casually driving along the highway......that had very little traffic.... in the travel lane at 85 mph, when two smaller cars go wizzing by at an accelerated speed. I pulled out and followed these 2 cars going 115 mph for about 30+ minutes straight! I was so proud of my car's performance! The Lumina Z-34 did not shake, sway, vibrate nor did the engine whine one little bit! Oct 15, 2013

A sports car that is great on gas, good handling with amazing acceleration. It makes a great teenager car or could be a great family car as well. I got this for my son's first car and I felt comfortable with him driving it. Jul 09, 2012

I like this car to. Its fun to drive. It needs one repair right now thats the wheel barring. But it will get fixed in due time. The car is fun to drive its a v6 and it gets up and goes for sure.May 31, 2011

This car is beautiful. And going on 20 years old, she still get to highway speeds with no problem. Pretty decent interior, but missing a few amenities (cup holder??). So satisfying to drive. Very responsive acceleration and braking. Long front end means I have to watch the terribly designed entrances to some parking lots in my area (no lowering kit for me). Gas mileage is 22 - 27 mpg. Not too bad. Overall, a powerful car with a semi retro look and good quality. With good maintenence, she can last another 20 years.May 20, 2011

everything about the car as far as performance goes is top notch. it runs well and there are hardly any problems with it. We got it when I was two and just this last summer the air went out. could have gotten it replaced but it was a bit expensive. never really had alot of engine trouble. there are a few scratches but no dents. This car used to be my mothers, when I turned sixteen, we couldnt agree to a car for me. So she decided to give me this one. I still have it, but its parked in my garage, covered up. I didnt drive this car long, but I loved it. No one made fun of me for driving this Lumina! Watch the door handles on this car, they're easy to break, and VERY costly to fix. My older brother about died when he had to pay for it. The alternator's like to go bad in these cars. My dad put six of them in, before he had a friend build a speciality alternator, made to go on Police cars, to keep it running.Jan 14, 2010

I'm not looking for speed/accel performance, I'm looking for economy performance. For that, it's terrible. I'm pulling every trick in the book, and managing 26-29 MPG, mixed city/highway. Drives well, but has needed work since I acquired it at 113k miles.
Traded a used laptop for it - they had 3 cars for 2 people, and I had 3 laptops for 2 people - worked out both ways.May 13, 2009

Car is an amazing people hauler...but it is definitely not lacking in performance...V6 3.4 liter engine gives it plenty of pick-up and it is suprisingly quick and agile for its size thanks to a well-tuned suspension. Performance is good, acceleration is relatively swift, and the brakes are good (the ABS works which is nice), with discs on all 4 wheels.
Build quality isn't great on the inside. The dash coverin has warped and is peeling in places (around the windscreen heater vent and under the dash lip on the passenger side.), also the fuse cover in the glove box is broken and the trim panel in the footwell on the passenger side will not stay on.
The car looks pretty good, with a pointy nose, 16" milled aluminium wheels and a spoiler it looks quite sporty. The interior is quite nice with front bucket seats, and a faux leather sports steering wheel, the rev counter adds to the sporty feel, though seems a little un-necessary in a car with an auto-box. On the whole, quite attractive.
Gas mileage isn't bad, around 25mpg (US gallons are only 3.6 litres, and octane levels are lower 87, 89, 93) on 89octane gasoline. Maintenance has been relatively cheap so far, Oil filters, spark plugs and air filters are pretty cheap, as is the transmission fluid filter, though batteries are expensive by US standards at $89 (side post batteries seem to be more expensive).
The car is relatively fun to drive. Some where between a family car and a sports car i guess. Though the fun factor is hampered by front wheel drive and an auto gearbox, though the 3.1 V6 does provide enough power.Jan 11, 2009

The Chevy Lumina is one of the best cars to come out in the past 20 years. I say this because the 93 lumina that my Aunt handed down to me that was purchased in 93 minus a few minor repairs has all of its original parts and has 265,00 + miles on it and still runs great with a few minor things that need to be repaired, but it is 15 years old and like i said it has 260k miles on and what car with that doesnt need a few things fixed on it. the car is comfortable to ride in and the interior is strong after 15 years of wear and tear, being used as a construction vehicle it still looks great.Oct 04, 2008

this car was quick on the street..ran about 130 and it was a V6...i also raced it on the street...it cost me 3000 plus i had to put about a 1000 in parts...like a windshield, intake manifold, lights, but overall it was a fun car to drive i really liked this car but i had to sell it so...Sep 02, 2008

I have 2 1993 Chevy Luminas and I absolutely love them! They are a fun car to drive and are very reliable. One of them was used as my first car which I got in an accident with but is currently being repaired. No problems other then what usually goes on a car(brakes,spark plugs and wires). Very good choice when buying them!May 29, 2008

We got 265,000 miles out of this car before we finally replaced it. Only major issues we really had were transmission related, had to replace it a couple times in the last couple years, but other than that, good performance, good mileage, and great reliability, I miss the car, but it was getting old.Apr 05, 2008

Problems with Chev Lumina 93 ~ Car Losing Power/Not starting
I was looking for a little help for someone please ~~ I have a 93 lumina 3.1 v6 ~ and I was losing power going into the engine, didn't want to idle ~ and when it did, it idled very low ~ wanted to shut off ~~ thought it might have been the coil packs.. due to that was the issue last year when it was doing the same thing. I replaced 2 of them then ~ there is only one left to replace... but then thought it could be something as simple as just spark plugs. Tonight ~ had someone replace them... and when they took them out ~ they were corroded and caked with gunk. After they were replaced and we took it for a test drive, the car ran like a champ.... you could tell the difference. But when we stopped at a gas station, and shut the car off ~ took the keys out.. the parking lights came on without the keys in the ignition... and when we put the keys back in the ignition... nothing. Not a click, not a sound. So what the hell.... ?!?!? Does anyone know what this could possibly be? Not sure if he changed out the wires with the new spark plugs ~ could it be just that simple? Or could it be more complex than that? Any advice would be great at this point :) Thank you
