Automatic transmission 93 1500 with a 4.3 automatic does not shift automatically manual shift first second third like it don't exist or maybe a solenoids not opening

Bought this as my winter beater and I couldnt believe how much I fell in love with this truck. It was amazing, had awesome power and the different exhaust I put on it sounded awesome. Took it through many 3 foot high snow drifts and the bloody thing never got stuck. Parts.....ha...wow, you can easily afford to keep this thing on the road and they were so easy to replace, great truck to work on.Mar 08, 2012

I've owned this Silverado since Dec 1998. I bought it for work initially, but now it's 'semi-retired' (I now use a 2003 Impala LS (3.8L) as my everyday cummuter). My wife says I'm a horder when it comes to my truck - she just doesn't see the light. :-) I bought the truck with 177,000 km and it now has 364,700 (as of Nov 22, 2011). A good 75% of that mileage is highway. Its been very reliable and dependable for the most part, just seemed to have gone through front brakes and u-joints more frequently than normal (maybe it's just me - ?). Its reasonably good on fuel on the highway, but heavy in the City. The body on it is still in very good shape aside from the usual rust spot on the right rear fender above the exhaust pipe (damn these Canadian winters). May 05, 2011

It is perfect for rally car driving, it is slow to brake but I believe that is due to a lack of maintenance on my part. The interior is fine, comfortable and durable. The exterior is rusty and faded but its held up. Also very cheap to fix, the performance is grand. The only downside is gas, its terrible $75 to fill it up and in about 100 miles you'll need more. It served me well for 14 years and then I passed it on to my son. It was a little under-powered, and was sometimes hard to park or make tight turns due to the extended cab. In every other respect it was very dependable and a good truck.Jul 03, 2010

It's a good truck, The cab corners are rotting on it because I live around salt and drive on salted roads. The paint is coming off in big patches and the breaks are making a smell like the pads are sticking a little. This truck is safe to drive, not very aerodynamic at all but the more wieght you have in the back the better it handles and rides. This truck is meant to work and haul and it has been handy when finding free stuff on the side of the road and hauling junk and moving people. I like my truck but wish I had a club cab! With a car seat in between it is really cramped in the cab! Not a good family vehicle. I love going off road in it though. I would never buy another truck without 4wd again!Nov 02, 2009

350 pulls great for a heavy truck, keeps up with little tuners. leather and wood interior w mood lights, mark 3 conversion kit. shift kit, flowmaster exhaust. good paint, small imperfections. could use new rims and tires. low mpg but roasts the tires!Aug 10, 2009

within a day, except the tranny took me 2 days, i love chevys
and will never own anything else, i love it, its my baby. now i

Gets the job done. Has enough power for most tasks, and is fun to drive, but still gets good gas mileage. Can really get moving if you step on it, yet I have gotten 17 miles per gallon with it on the highway. Extended cab is nice for hauling extra people. Very reliable and always runs good. Always starts even when it's 20-30 below zero. 4 wheel drive works well, just takes a minute or two to engage. Parts are easy and affordable to buy. I am sure this truck will easily last another 10-20 years.May 18, 2009

The accleration is awesome, and it has good handling. The interior is in pretty good condition, the exterior has some rust, but it ain't too bad. The gas mileage is ok, but I wouldn't mind if it was better. The cab has a good amount of room, but it ain't the greatest for long trips.Oct 22, 2008

The 4.3 has some surprising power with the 350 trans, 0-60 in about 8.5.
