Pulley system
I have a 190e 2.6. I replaced the voltage regulator and now it sounds like a pulley is going out. Is this the brushes of the regulator or is it the pulley? Should I be concerned? I hav an 8 hour road trip to take.

Why change a good thing? That must have been Mercedes' thinking when it came to the compact 1992 Mercedes-Benz 190-class, which was dubbed the "Baby Benz."
In the previous year, the carmaker had offered two versions of the 190-class -- a 2.6-liter, 6-cylinder sedan that pumped out 158 hp, and a smaller 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder version that generated 130 hp. Both versions were offered again in 1992 with little change, right down to standard and optional equipment.
Standard equipment for both versions included a 5-speed manual overdrive transmission with a 4-speed automatic available as an option. Power windows, anti-lock brakes, driver's-side airbags, and air conditioning were also standard, while a sunroof and leather seats were available as options.
The only new addition for the 1992 model year was a "Sportline" package that included sport seats, wider wheels and tires, a lowered ride profile, a specially tuned suspension, a custom steering wheel, and special badging.

It was a great car. Clean. Leather seats. New radio. Work has been done on the car. It has over 200,000 miles on that car. We sold it to someone we know. I miss the car a lot. It was a wonderful car.Oct 05, 2014

this car is fun to drive you can do what ever you want even drifting with it she has a lot of performance i wish my father could bought the cosworth 2.3 16v it will be a much power car with high performance and a family car in the same time :D Nov 20, 2011

this is my1986 2.3 mercedes cosworth on twin 45 webber carbs with full evo 3 kit ,black leather , 8" wheels on the front and 10 and a half on the back. it looks as good as it's sounds, i use it on weekends and car shows mostly Jan 24, 2010

ACC - less than oil-tanker
BREAKING - quite good
HANDLING - perfect
Appearance - like millenium falcon
interior styling like some dictators car back in 70s
cheap like hell. takes like 5l of diesel oil per 100km

This is an impressive car, very comfortable, good looking and buit like a tank. The engine is strong and pretty good on gas. Cost a dime to repair...and once it's in shape forget about the repair shop, you'll only go there for an oil change and put miles and miles on this car with pleasure!Aug 25, 2009

acceleration is great but it doesnt go in geer right away, which suxs. If i had the money to spare I would make the broken interior things work. I wish I could change the color but thats just a minor repare. Aug 15, 2009

Everything about the Performance is perfect! The built quality is good but I got a few fixes to do. I got all parts though. He looks goot despite a little rust which wont last long. It spends around 9l/100km. This car is absolutely and utterly splendid to drive. The RWD is awesome.Aug 03, 2009

For what it is and how old it is, its a very good car. it picks up when needed and the handling is solid, pretty low top speed, only like 135 but its a very fun car to drive and makes me want to keep mercedes forever.Jul 31, 2009

This car is a little tank! Commonly known as being over-built by Mercedes. Very reliable. Average performance. Good ride for such a small car. Average of 20mpg in city. The paint is in great condition...very surprised for a 17 year old car. Everything in working order Great car!Jun 11, 2009

Well, it's not the fastest or newest car in the world, but it's pretty damn speedy through corners. It was built like a rock and as a rock it shall keep on rollin. It's everyday driving qualities are sublime and it's a car in very little need of maintenance...
It was the very first car that had ripple zones, airbag and it was the first mid-class production series with ABS, central locking and powersteering as standard...

I bought this lovely car about 2 years ago -
although 300k km on the mileage counter,
there is no doubt that this car will go at least
some 200k more. This car is a perfect
companion for long trips. For now, I use less
than 8.5 litres/100km (average inner/inter-
urban) - and I'm quite proud of that ;-)
This is solid and reliable handicraft, repairs
need to be made on an average basis, nothing
special until now. Also very reliable in winter!
So much for the objective point of view. As for
the style - the body is elegant, the design a
classic, and the color just underlines my
personality. I personally prefer my fabric
interior over the leather.

What can be better than this hand-made Mercedes-Benz built in the old days, while the German engineers assembled every one of this masterpiece and tested it to perfection before each "release." It was summer of 1984, when this small car hit the market, and it was already hit by critics: too small, too consuming, too something, not a real Mercedes, but my experience is that it is a Mercedes in any way except in size. Very enjoyable ride (like the 'real' Benz), in lower prizing.Jan 24, 2008

This 5-speed manual runs up to 30 mpg while effortlessly eating up the road. The suspension sticks like glue. It's really quiet turning 2250 rpm at 60mph. At 15 years old and 174,000 miles it's an a-m-a-z-i-n-g car! I have come late to the Mercedes scene but having put 7200 miles on this car in the last 2 months - I can't get enough! I have a special edition New Beetle that is 2 seconds faster to 60mph and changes lane at a flick of the wrist but it's sitting on the side of the driveway - This is THE driving experience!Sep 12, 2007

1992 ,190 E 2.3 engine...won't start. Mercedes Chicago put in new fuel distributor ordered from Benz in Germany , no luck in starting ,sent to syracuse Benz,they did all kinds of research...still not starting!! Any suggestion would be helpful...thanks....

is there a temporary workaround for a blown heater core?
heard a hissing sound like a hose was leaking, windshield started fogging up with hot air blowing on it from vent. hot liquid began dripping on my foot from somewhere over the accelerator pedal. then coolant light came on. put water in and light went out and windshield cleared for a while then it all happened again. did some research to see if it was ok to drive far enough to get home and found that it was the heater core and that there was a cheap temporary workaround involving rerouting some hoses. i'm not a mechanic - i'd like to try to give this info to whoever fixes the car so i can delay the expensive installation of the heater core until i can afford it. thank you
