1991 Pontiac Bonneville Preview summaryImage

Big skies, big open country, Big Macs. America likes all things big. Perhaps that's why the full-size Pontiac Bonneville has endured for almost 40 years.

The 1991 Pontiac Bonneville looks like a retirement car that clogs up the streets of Florida, but it also makes for a wonderful family car. The base LE, SE, and SSE trims all feature a powerful 3.8-liter, 165-hp V6 engine and 4-speed automatic. Though off-the-line acceleration is sluggish, thanks to the auto tran, once the 1991 Bonneville hits highway speeds, it is a quiet, smooth, and reasonably fast ride. Though the LE comes standard with few comforts, the SE and especially SSE are decked out with all the luxuries to make long car trips enjoyable, such as cruise control, power seats, fog lights, ABS brakes, lighted entry, and headlight cleaners. And the Bonneville is great for long trips, as it seats six adults comfortably. No more griping about crossing over someone's imaginary line in the backseat.

1991 Bonneville owners love the precise handling and smooth performance of their sedan, and are impressed with its speed and engine power. The car seems built to last, able to repel impacts safely. It is a tank, after all. Owners also love all the interior extras. Some complain about peeling paint and the scarcity of parts as these cars get older.

This car came with all the extras that were available back in 91 . Many were items that were that were only available on luxury cars. The car has good acceleration and it's fun to drive. Always got over 20 mpg on city driving, better on trips. Aug 18, 2014

best pontiac pound-for-pound. an excellent bmw fighter. Car responds well when pushed to its limits. This car seems to enjoy being driven hard. Seats holds you in nice and snug. This is a true road car. Compfortable ride on long tripsApr 30, 2010

Definately a solid car! I was rearended by a jeep with only minor cosmetic damage. I also put it in a ditch with about 4' of snow and only ended up with a small dent after the front right wheel. I cut the exhaust about 1' after the cat and stuck a resonater tip on it and she sounds great. I also used some rubber PVC conectors to rig up a K&N cold air intake. Goes 0-60 in 9.28 seconds with a top speed of about 116 mph. Very stable around corners. The back end is light and it is suprisingly easy to drift it on snow even without rear wheel drive. It has about 204,000 miles on it without an engine or transmission replacement.Jan 24, 2010
