Performance. Outstanding especially considering the era it came from.
Build quality. Also fantastic. A true Japanese sports car.
Appearance. Well...I love it.
Cost of ownership. Fairly high...gas mileage is terrible. If that worries you, buy a Honda.
Fun Factor. Very High.

these cars have amazing cornering. its a lil bit expensive on gas and only gets around 18 miles to the gallon, but it is totally awesome when you can take a cloverleaf corner at 50+ mph and the tires dont squawk.Aug 12, 2009

I have to rebuild the engine and clean up the body...she has
to be torn apart fix a few dents and paint her, the only other
girl before her is Katelyn. It is a really expensive car as far
as upkeep and everything but in the end it is completely

Beautiful car, great wankel rotary engine. RWD fun. Loves to drink fuel. Small interior, but focused -- it's a sportscar. Suspension is pretty stiff as well, so having it as a daily driviner may turn out to be a pain.

Classic, simple design, fast as all hell and nothing beats the sound of a rotary engine. Make sure you're ready to do your research and get your hands dirty. Shops that are skilled in dealing with these engines are hard to find, and most of the time you're just better off doing most of the work yourself. It's worth it. Jun 20, 2009

The rotary engine is by far the most abusable engine ever made as long as you maintain it. The rev-happy 13b is a spirited drive and capable of serious horsepower when ported and properly tuned. The sleek and sexy body style of the 2nd generation FC3S has limitless design potential and a healthy array of after market body kits and accessories. I love this car! I have wanted an RX-7 project car for 2 years now, and I finally got one cheap to refurbish a bit. I'm having a lot of fun and learing a lot with it.
My car was not in the best shape when I bought it, but my friend's is MINT, and is a VERY reliable car to own. The rotary engine is very nice, and is not half as scary as people think, it is just touchy about scheduled maintenance and does not like to be neglected. I love my car, and will keep it as long as I can.Jul 04, 2008

A unique 2 seater sports coupe powered by mazda's wankel rotary engine. Plenty of aftermarket support, easily customizable and fun. Excellent handling and lots of potential as a track car or high performance street car when placed in the right hands. Rear wheel drive, front engine configuration, nearly 50/50 weight distribution. This car is powered by a 13b rotary engine. Thats right a whopping 1300cc's. Now before you go laughing at me you better realize the rotary engine in this car has the highest power to displacement ratio of any N/A (Naturally Apsirated) engine ever built. I currently own a 1993 Mazda MX-6 and after driving the 1991 RX-7 back-to-back with my MX-6, the RX-7 is so far ahead of MX-6 its not even funny. Handling is amazing, ride quality is stiff (but what do you expect, its a sports car), acceleration is good (faster then my MX-6 2.5L V6) with the 1.3 L Rotary but would be very fast with a turbo. General driving was great, with an amazing short-throw 5 speed gearbox. The car is well laid out with a hatchback rear design for more space and a sunroof to let more light in. The interior for a 17 year old car is better looking and more comfortable than most brand new cars on the market (yes, far better than a new supercharged cobalt). Overall I would rate this car a 9 out of 10 because its so much fun to drive and its very well put together. Gas mileage is about the only downside to the car being a rotary engine with an 8,000 rpm redline. I would recommend this car to anyone!Dec 30, 2007
