1991 Dodge Dynasty Preview summaryImage

If you're trying to teach a young child about shapes, a good example of a rectangle would be the Dodge Dynasty. From its sharply angled exterior to its rectangular housings for interior gauges, this Dynasty truly defines boxy. Not flashy, not gorgeous, it is a practical family car with kick and good fuel economy.

There were few changes to the 1991 Dodge Dynasty. Though it was conservative-looking, and had a plain interior with few luxury options, both base and LE models, when equipped with either the 3.0, 141-hp V6 or the 3.3, 147-hp V6 (only available with LE), were surprisingly peppy. Its quick acceleration makes it first off the line at stoplights and a nimble passer on highways. Billed as a six-passenger car, it comfortably seats four, and boasts a spacious front row with supportive seats and generous rear seating. The trunk could hold the kitchen sink.

The 1991 Dynasty's pickup and interior room are highlights for drivers. Top complaints focus on the plain, "granny car" exterior, transmission problems, and the chance of computer failures.

We bought ours used in 03 and have added another 150000 miles to the original 116,000 plus miles. Performance is outstanding. Strong running engine. Windows don't work anymore. Switches are bad. It burned a little oil when we got it and it still does. Also has a leak in the cooling system, but we can't find where it is leaking. Good gas mileage. Still looks the same as when we bought it. Maintenance was normal. No extra or huge costs for repairs. It was a good car for us. After six years (09), We upgraded to a SUV and are selling it. Only going to get a couple of hundred for it.Feb 05, 2009
