It's a nice comfy ride with some sporty features.... has potential to be a head turner. It seems relatively easy to work on. The rear spark plugs are hard to get to but can be accessed by rotating the engine forward... but even then... I like the V6. My experience is that it gets good gas mileage and is durable when cared for. The timing chain is it's achilles heel. If it breaks... the valves get wrecked. It would be a good idea to get it changed at about 100K miles. The Overdrive transmission is smooth and a pleasure to drive. The Brakes are excellent and are good for a smooth stop, or an emergency lock up as well. It has a relatively smooth ride. Mine always gets compliments for that when driven by others. You can get these cars for a song. With just a little Love and Care, the '90 Chevy Lumina Euro Coupe can be a Fun and Enjoyable Ride to Fix Up, Dress Up, and Cruise any type of road in.Aug 18, 2011

This has been a good, reliable car for the past 170,000 miles. It's doesn't handle too well, having a rather high CG with some slop developed in the steering. It picks up well in passing gear. The struts are currently warn out, but still function alright. The only major repair was replacing the computer a few years back. The radiator fans currently don't work, so the engine will overheat if left at idle for and extended time. Sep 23, 2010

its got its problems but what car doesnt...lol

The performance is actually pretty good for a car over 17 years old. The transmission is leaking a bit but still the overall ride quality is amazing. As you would think the technology in the car is weak compared to modern four door sedans, but it still can compete with the looks competition. It reminds me of a sports car, and it probably was back then.Aug 21, 2009

This is my first car and it runs like a champ. I bought it for 700 bucks with only 74000 miles. But after 18 Massachusetts winters the underside was done. So instead of junking it I decided to get it fixed. With all new brakes,struts,new fuel system and a tune up,filters,etc. I got a brand new car basically for under 3500 bucks. Sure i could've bought another used car for that much but it wouldve had more miles and not as roomy and comfy. Mine has a remote starter,power everything,and a/c. Four wheel disc brakes stop you quick. If you ever get a chance to buy one get it. they run forever when properly maintained.Aug 19, 2009

Its ok, I kind of get uncomfortable on long trips. Responds really well though performance-wise. The starter acts kind of funny in extreme temperatures. I cant complain though it is a reliable vehicle. The battery is a pain in the ass to get to.Aug 14, 2009

I bought this for $400 from my girlfriends dad when it was worth more than that. It has some minor problems. The turn signals didn't work real well. i kind of fixed that. the exhaust is its main problem because her dad tried replacing the catalytic convertor with the one from her buick regal she wrecked. It didn't work and ended up being an open exhaust. I have also kind of fixed that. The next step is to paint it black and put a 3 on the side. Well not a lot to say had the car for maybe a month til i tore the rear end out of it. Me and my friends use to goof around with it. The best parts about it was the fact that it could squeal the tires pretty good. It also needed a lot of body work there were black spots all over it were the pain was fading the back end was smashed. The transmission would slip on it and the acclerator would stick when i was not showing off in it. It needed more work that i could do.Mar 13, 2009

Purchased by my parents in 1992 with low miles, second owner. I began driving it when I turned 16 in 2000.
Considering what was being sold in the early 90s, it wasn't bad. Rock solid engine (3100 series), generally reliable, with decent performance and lots of torque. It had a nice throaty exhaust that was toned down in Luminas after the 1992 model year. My only complaints were the tendency to rust along the rocker panels and poor build quality of the interior. Luminas have a common problem with the dashes warping around the defroster vents. A water pump and fuel pump needed replacing during the 4 years I drove it, but otherwise it had no problems.Aug 10, 2008

The Lumina is a car that somehow is a fighter though it's design is quite horrible. My mom owns this car so I've driven it a few times and driven in it. Shes had it for a while now, about 5/6 years. The window on the passenger door falls out of the track so you have to hold the glass and guide it down when you roll it down with the manual crank. The passenger door also no longer opens from the outside, only from the inside. The trunk is leaking. The break line has had to be replace 3 times. The seat cushions are worn down. The seat belt has a tendency to not coil back. The doors click when you close the door as if they are locking, but she does not have power locks. The front end is way too long and slopes down so it is hard to see. Overall this car is pretty shotty, but there are so many of them out there on the road, something has to be keeping them going.Apr 26, 2008

My mom's old car. The 3.1 liter V-6 only had 135 hp, but it had plenty of immediately available torque so it felt more powerful than that, and the steering and brakes also had a satisfying sporty feel to them, and the engine sounded great too. And one time on a long road trip, it got up to 30 miles per gallon at least once. It had its problems from time to time, but we kept it until it had 200,000 miles. Interior had plenty of room. The main thing I didn't like about it is the seat belt rubbed against my neck.Mar 31, 2008

It was my first car, so I had to love it, Got it for free, it was missing various parts, like the grill, a door panel, but it was still a very good car. Can't remember the performance of the car, but there was enough to get me ticket for speeding.Jan 18, 2008

Last night I hit a big deer with my 1990 Lumina APV van. Sob. Love that van. It has always run well. What's not to like about driving a 16 year old car that always starts. I mean we've had our little problems over the years, but we're way out ahead. Believe it or not, I still have collision on it. The hood is cracked and has little tufts of fur coming out of it. Maybe a few Grateful Dead stickers will cover them up. Anyhoo, probably won't get squat for it. I'm so sad. This has been a great vehicle to move our daughter in and out of college every year. I was hoping to get 2 more years out of it, then throw a party! They just don't make 'em like they used to.Oct 24, 2006

Help Wanted with Sensor ID
What Part Am I? mounted on driver's side, top of firewall... has 7 wires, from top to bottom, Black, Pink, Purple, Green, Grey, Blue, Red... has a vacume hose nipple. Next part is a 3 way Vacume Line component... top nipple is broke off. I believe it attached to aforementioned sensor.
