1987 Toyota Cressida Preview summaryImage

The Toyota Cressida, Toyota's luxury sedan, saw the addition of a new automatic transmission from the Supra in 1987. The new tranny had different gear ratios for better performance, but slightly lower gas mileage.

The 1987 Toyota Cressida came as a wagon or a sedan. The engine was a 2.8-liter, 156-horsepower six cylinder, and it came standard with an automatic transmission. A five-speed manual was available as an option. The Cressida was well-equipped, coming with a generous amount of standard features. Fuel economy was about 19/24.

Drivers love the 1987 Toyota Cressida, saying it is fun to drive, offers a smooth, quiet ride, and has amazing longevity. Some drivers complain that it can be prone to rust, and some grumble about the lack of cupholders.

i bought this car for $900. i am not ashamed of my purchase. everything works fine and the power and performance are killer. after installing 2 12's in the trunk and a new head unit the sound system is great. all mine needs is some minor body work and a paint job. the royal blue on this car is sexy.Oct 20, 2012

rear wheel drive is better than front wheel any day. less maintenance beter handling. easier to repair. At 113223 miles i am still getting more than twenty mpg. Not bad for a 23yr old car. i plan to keep it until i die.May 28, 2010

What a great car. It had it's share of technical difficulties but I will never forget the times had in this car. This baby purred if it decided to wake up in the morning. It also has that awesome retro look with rims unique to the Cressida model. Apr 03, 2008
