My second retirement hobby,a replacement for Tinker Toy I
350ci, moderate cam, headers, bucket seats, Tach/w shift light, B&M shifter,Tilt Grant stirring wheel, Billet grill, 350 tranny. FlexLite aluminum radiator and electric fans, 2" drop in front, lowered 4" rear, aftermarket steel hood with 2" scoop with support shocks,, show lights underneath truck, fiberglass bed cover with support shocks, custom paint pin stripping 15" aluminum wheels. Sharp and fun to drive. It's time consuming and expensive However I enjoy playing with it.Jul 23, 2014

1987 chevy s10 2.8 v6, 5 speed long box single cab 2wd durango package (57k miles)
This is my first car and has been a great car being only repairs r replacing the original plugs and wires after 25 years and the pilot bearing went out in the clutch. Gets around 19-20 mpg in the city (2.8, 5 speed) and have yet to test it out on the highway on long distances. Wish it had more power but has more then enough to make it a great truck and i would take fuel economy over power any day and these trucks where designed to haul stuff in the box, not tow. This little truck has a 1500lb payload limit which is outstanding for its size, just wish the bx was wider and deeper, i dont think its even wide enough to fit a 4 wheeler in it although i could be wrong. Over all its a great little truck and i would recommend it to anyone, and for being 25 years old it has yet to show any signs of leaking oil at all or any other fluids.Nov 12, 2012

This little truck was the best little truck I have ever owned. It may have been a rust bucket but it ran like a dream. I was given the truck for free and only had to replace the clutch in it. I then put a class 3 hitch on it and towed a 6x9 u-haul trailer fully loaded from upstate NY down to VA had absolutely no problems the whole trip. Oh not to mention the bed of the truck was fully loaded also. The only reason I got rid of the truck was because there was no way it would pass inspection in the state of VA.May 12, 2012

Good strong truck, my wife wrecked it while I was a fort hood. She was
driving and an avalanche pulled out in front of her. it flipped the
avalanche over, and the s10 still drove onto the tow truck. Good looking

I built it all myself, painted it and the engine work now. Its been my project... future 350 with lift kit. I enjoy my fake truck. I love driving it, offroading it and even jumped it lol It handled it like a champ!! :) Oct 22, 2010

This truck is fully customized its lowered 4" in the front and 6" in the rear it sits on led blocks and has a motor swap in it... i hopefully would like to sell this car soon so i can buy a new toyFeb 11, 2010

This truck has pretty weak performance, but what
can you expect from an 87. It needs some
suspension work for tighter cornering and a more
aggressive stance. Power wise it needs a lot more
power definitely a v8 in the future if I end up
keeping it. This is great fun in winter driving
drifting all over with just a little weight in the box.
The 2.8 v6 has almost 250 000 km's on it and it is
still running strong, but does not get very good
mileage which is a disappointment because of the

This truck runs, occasionally. That's the best thing I can say about it. The manual 4-speed transmission can pull a full size truck I will give it that. The problem however lies within the engine and its crappy throttle body. I would gladly take a MPI, EFI, or even a carb. engine over this one any day. Nov 12, 2008

I am in the middle of a full frame off restoration on this little truck. To date, I have the frame pro streeted, and painted, and I am starting on the suspension. The plan for the truck is to build a 406-427 cid small block, mate it to a highly modified 700 R4, and run in the low 11's. I used to ride in this truck when it had a stone stock 350 in it, and it was pretty fast back then, I can't wait to see what this nasty small block is going to do...Apr 18, 2008

it's a great truck but mine has almost 300k on the ol ticker so it's starting to rust out pretty bad both frame and body and unfortunately as of last night the fuel like sprung a pretty bad leak and burst a brake line but it still runs strong as ever and i wouldn't trade it for the worldMar 17, 2008

dirt cheap no options farm truck. no power anything, not even steering or brakes. 4 speed
manual, 4 cylinder, 2wd. gets decent mileage because of no accessories and only 2600lbs.

Rear tail lights
I have a 87 s10 2.5 and my tail lights quit working. The front works, but blink extremely slow. I have break lights but no turning signals or parking lights in the rear. When I put the right signal on both front flash , when I put the left on both dont. Plz help me figure this out before I roll it down a hill on fire...lol

Car bogs out and stalls
Okay, im having a bit of a problem here. My 1987 Chevy S10 is sitting at about 900 to 1000 RPM at idle. But when I hit the gas, it goes up to about 2000 RPM and starts to bog down and starts to stall. I have replaced a number of things such as the coolant temp sensor, the O2 sensor, the injector, I also recently replaced the fuel filter and pump, but I didnt order a new fuel strainer for the fuel pump. The distributor cap and rotor were also replaced and spark plug wires are also new. I also got a MAP sensor from the junk yard. Any ideas on why it would start to bog out around 2000 RPM and stall out?? it doesnt even have enough power to move forward. thanks for any advice that i receive.
