Ive owned 2 S-10s thus far and I currently have my eyes on a third one. I drove over 320,000 mileson each one of them. It is my opinion that the 4.3 ltr Vortec V6 is unmatched in its class. I would recommend this vehicle to all 3 of my sons.Oct 20, 2023

Value 5, features are limited by trims so meh 3 , the upside is add ons that WOULD have been factory are usually supported less driving lights. And some interior configurations can be factory OEM changed, sub harnesses and programming are usually ness to make equipment function as desired. Lots of nickel dime issues transmission (4l60E) and heater core being the most troublesome.as far as labor intensity. Highly recommend external trans cooler seperate from internal radiator cooling tank. Over all value for the money 8 cheap plastic interior components that are impossible to find at a reasonable price.if there was minus 10 I would submit it to the designers. And interior bezels are SPECIFIC to this model and NO interchange exists. Unlike Tahoe suburban and Yukon. Aug 20, 2022

A little more expensive than we wanted to pay, but nice truck. A little rust on bottom panel & inside was very dirty - especially dog hair everywhere. Otherwise, its beautiful truck & happy with it.Apr 08, 2022

This truck has served the purpose it was purchased for. You can haul a 4x8 sheet of plywood as I have on a couple different occasions with straps and the tie-off eyes in the bed. I have towed a 4x6 roll of hay a couple of times(they weigh between 1000 and 1500 lbs each) it done fine. I have had to replace the rear brakes twice in the 2 years I have owned it. replaced the radiator once and flushed the heater core 4 times. Today I will be replacing the front hub assemblies temperature permitting (I really dislike the cold HAHA). Overall other than gas mileage it has been a good vehicle for buying it used. 150,000 miles on it now it had 120,000 when I bought it.Nov 08, 2014

Is an excellent truck for offroad. At high speeds, the tires are a bit noisy, but that's what the great sound system is for. Is better on gas than you would expect in 2WD. If going on a long 4x4 expedition be sure to have a full tank or bring some fuel.Sep 08, 2014

This truck is great. It gives you a lot of things that the bigger trucks do with the fuel mileage of a little truck. The 4x4 works great, you can haul things, pull a trailer and take more than two people with you. The great thing is you have a truck and you aren't having to pay a full size truck price.May 08, 2014

Its great and works fine for a daily commuting car. not much power with a straight 4. getting to work and back is no prob. I don't like how it dosent take much at all to fishtail even with brand new tires. But is ok for a little truck. (UPDATE: the truck got in an accident and the passenger side rear tire is pushed back about 6in and damaged the leaf springs, shocks, drive shaft, rear end, and bed. Perfect truck for me. Size was never an issue. It is perfect for the back and forth to work truck or a weekend truck for hauling supplies in. Got great gas mileage 20+mpg for a 4.3L thats really good. Feb 28, 2014

Very practical, bought the truck to tow a small u-haul to Texas. It performed great, had no issues at all. The bed is pretty big and it maintained the speed limit the whole way. I think its great for someone that needs a little truck.Sep 14, 2013

Performance is great its needed a repair already but that was my dads fault the

The Silver Bullet had a good run. In the end a near-totalling wreck in 2007 just prior to a few years of me being overseas and it not being used regularly caught up with it and its engine couldn't take the stress of a Texas/Ark/Alabama summer heat wave and that was all she wrote. Without the wreck in 2007 and all the replacement parts it had to sustain as a result, i have no doubt this truck would still be driving, well past 200,000 miles and 10 yrs of me owning it.Jun 29, 2012

its not 100% mine yet but next year it will be. its very fast for a 4.3L v6, my dad got in an accident and decided to rebuild it "the way i wanted it" so its not stock. the exterior is better than the interior, very clean interior but super clean exterior. hoping for some new wheels next.Jul 18, 2010

great truck, lowerd,zq8, driveshaft sucks, third door handle breaks if you put to much pressure on it. Is ok on gas mileage for this type of truck, it gets about 19 to 20 mpg. Stock tires suck get better tires.Feb 25, 2010

the preformance was lacking due to a leak of some kind but was still alot of fun to drive due to the transmission. the build quiality although not shotty was not to par and could have used some more love for instance sometimes the hood would get stuck? i mean wth. the vehicle in my eyes was beauitifull partially due to the after market rims and tailights. cost of ownership was not too much because it was a repoed vehicle. the vehicle was very much fun.Jan 12, 2010

I hated my S-10! Where I live, winter is the most prominent season of them all and I would get stuck in 2 inches of snow and would have to call a friend to help get me out! My Dakota, never got stuck where I couldn't get myself out.Nov 21, 2009

the transmission sucks............ everything else is pretty good. Solid engine with the 4.3. cant go wrong with a big v6. Interior is very comfortable and is somewhat decent to take a road trip in. Dont go off roading with itJul 06, 2009

My truck is the best, for a V6 it has the power that i need for that get up and good, without spending a fortune in gas. I find the S-10 and the GMC sonoma's to be good looking little trucks. They come in a varity of styles for everyone. Maintance is simple with these trucks, but at times can get expensive (depending ont he part). I have had tons on fun with these trucks, I find they are fun in and out of the mud. The only con I have for these trucks are the plastic parts that sometimes rattle and squeak at times, especially here in the north where we get some cold weather. Feb 03, 2009

I love my truck, body style, features, push button 4WD. I've had very little problems with mine, and anything that has needed fixing, the warranty has covered it. It's pretty bad on gas, so I complain a lot during the summer but I love it come winter time. I know I'll get to where I need to go no matter the weather condition.Sep 18, 2008

Excellent daily driver, comfortable and has great ac. definately not a speed demon or fun to drive and lacks power immensely. i did get a good deal on it and it runs great. the body isnt anything special to look at but it is nice to have a bed to put stuff in and a tailgate to sit on.Aug 29, 2008

It's a good truck, but the differential sucks. I only have 75000 on it and I guess the guy before me screwed around with it too much. Those gov-lock rear ends can't take too much wheel spinning. and off road... in the mud, wheels can spin. the truck doesn't get stuck unless the wheels around on the ground, happened to me once, and i dug it out, and was on my way. the wheel bearings are kinda weak, but that's it so far.

I got this truck with 11 miles on the odometer and haven't had any problems with it except for a bad thermostat seal, but it was covered under warranty. Handles great, has decent power, and is just overall reliable. I like the small size of the truck for fourwheeling.Feb 21, 2008

My S-10 xtreme is the last of its kind. I got a yellow with black stripes 4.3L V-6 manual with all the factory options. Yellow wasn't my first choice but this was the only one I could find that came with the V-6 and the stick shift. Its a fun car that can be easily modified to make it unique. the V-6 is full of potential and i've seen people squeeze 500HP out of the engine. It hits the governor a little below 100mph which sucks since you don't even notice your going that fast and the tachometer is only readin around 3000rpm. The locking rear diff comes in handy for reasonable handling and good burn outs. The sport suspension option does work well enough if you want to leave the whole car stock but you do notice some roll when you hit the tighter turns.Jan 07, 2008
