This was my first car at 17. I loved the older muscle cars. Almost bought a bright yellow 1970 Chevelle SS, but my mother's mechanic convinced her that a girl couldn't handle that kind of power. When I first saw the Grand Prix, I fell in love with her. Glad I didn't buy the Chevelle. She was reliable other than for the starter going twice. She was fast and quite powerful too.When the transmission needed to be rebuilt, the guys at the repair shop were impressed with the type of transmission she had, yet I don't remember what it was.Got plenty of looks driving down the road and most of my friends fell in love with her too. They still talk about that car. Guys were lining up to buy her off me. Rarely saw any other cars like her on the street. Only now, 10 years later do I see a very similar car in a local car show. The next car I got was a 1998 GTP and later my husband bought me a 2002 GTP, but he took it back for himself. Am looking for another GTP right now. Never plan nor want to own anything but a Grand Prix.Dec 01, 2012

well right now its just got a 305 in it. in about a week it will be getting a 350 put in it. next year probably rebuild the trany and put a 9inch posy rear end with 4 11 gears in it.Sep 05, 2010

this grand prix has a pontiac 400 in it with about 250 hp and a borg worner world class t-5 5spd.
i still get around 20 mpg if i want to.
i paid 750 and now with the 400 swap have 1600 in it totalApr 01, 2010

the acceleration is good the brakes so work for a hevy car and handling surprisingly good. it needed repairs because it got into accident. the out side is a muscle car and the inside is luxury. 27 mlg nuff said. very funNov 12, 2009

this was my first car. it was a special edition called the aerocoupe. only 3000 were made that year. performance was not great but it still was no slouch. it had te 305 GM high output motor with 120k and already the trans was going out. on the upside it was a posi tac rear end. i liked the car cause it was rare and looked cool but the carb and trans were sub par. It's 305 has plenty of push, but it"s no hot rod. I like the body style and its sharp corners. Its a hooptie but its no cutlass. I get many compliments when ever I take it out. I rarely worry about getting to my destination since its got over 200,000 miles and still running strong.Aug 19, 2008

it was a $200 investment that suprisingly lasted for a year. it looked like hell, but it never had a problem going right where you wanted it to go. I ditched this car going sideways on an icy road, and pulled right out of the ditch and drove off, no damage. the 305 chevy 8 cylinder power plant was a little under powered for what it should have been, but like i said this car was not in good shape, the only reason it was junked is that i blew the head gasket.Mar 19, 2008

What can be wrong with my car
I have a 1986 grand prix with a 5.0 engine the problem is that after driving a while the check engine light comes on and the car drive sluggish like it's not going fast and feel funny when pressing the gas pedal but when I stop at a light a little smoke comes from the pipes pull off a nice little cloud. When I cut the engine off it runs on sounds like a bunch of fireworks and I smell burned gas that burns the nose a little how can I fix this problem
