1985 Toyota Cressida Preview summaryImage

The 1985 Toyota Cressida was redesigned for 1985. The engine remained the same, but the body was redesigned, becoming larger and more aerodynamic, including a spoiler. It also came with new features, like an electronic shock absorber control, wood paneling, radio controls near the steering wheel, and a new automatic transmission.

The 1985 Toyota Cressida came as a wagon or a sedan. he engine was a 2.8-liter, 156-horsepower 6 cylinder, and it came standard with an automatic transmission. A five-speed manual was available as an option. The Cressida was well-equipped, coming with a generous amount of standard features.

Owners love their 1985 Cressidas, saying they are fun to drive, very comfortable, and are very reliable if treated right. Some owners have had problems with rust and those who are not mechanically inclined have found that they are expensive to have repaired.

What can I say, this car just will not die. It was my car since 1991 and it is still in the family. Everyone drives it and it still rides very smooth. I think this car has 9 lives or something... (LOL) This car currently has 250,000 miles. I'm surprised it doesn't have more considering how much I drove it.Aug 30, 2010

Has a 1JZ-GTE 2500 Twin Turbo engine swap from a 1991 Toyota Supra, and 5 speed manual. Fast in a straight line! Handling is average. Fun car all round, grandad race car! Looks stock from the outside, brown paint job etc but has grunt under the hood! Huge intercooler and 3" exhaust. A fun car to build and im glad with the results. Future things I would do is wider wheels and better handling then it would be awesome.Jul 25, 2009
