it runs great and goes fast,sounds awesome, there has been a lot of work done to this car and it took a few years and lots of money, but its a great toy and a joy to drive, people stop and look as you drive pass them, it turns a lot of headsMar 19, 2015

My El Camino is in great shape for being 27 years old. It only has 89,000 miles on it and there are no rattles, squeaks, or clunks. It runs like a champ and is very low maintenence. It has a 305 V8 with a 4 barrel carb and a Turbo 350 3 speed auto transmission. It does 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds, which isn't bad for an ''80s smog car, but due to the tall 2.73:1 rear gears, could be better. It gets between 14 to 16 mpg in the city and about 20-23 mpg on the highway. It rides better than a Cadillac!Mar 24, 2010

i really like the v8 350 that i have in it. it drives good but still needs some work to be the best it can be. i hop to put a new motor in it this summer mabe a 400 small block

Unlike plastics and aluminum in you can find in modern cars, this is mainly solid steel.
No fancy electronics so do not need to worry about those confusing repair codes.
Comes with air conditioner, power windows, power steering, cruise control, remember, this was made in 83.
Everything is clearly seen under the hood. Easily maintained.
Outlook, you love it or hate it. I love the look cos the tapered end near the bed. Looks more like a car and yet have the function of a truck.

I wouldn't recommend the El Camino in its stock state, but drop a 350 in it, lose the 2-tone paint and get some wheels and tires and you drastically and easily change the whole thing. This car did the best burnouts of any vehicle I've had. Apr 02, 2008

I love this car, its a solid piece of american steel. The later "G" body is the last of what can be considered an american muscle car. The 350 I have in it can put out near 1 hp per cui, and with a new cam over 400 maybe even as much as 450-460. Paints getting kinda old and it needs a paint job, not desperatly though, tires and rims look good, just refurbished them. Interior is alright, new headliner, heater and a/c dont work, damn..... bed is usefull, new cowled hood, fiberglass, new shocks and recently done breaks. Dart cylinder heads. Hell yes. jegs roller rockers, edelbrock 750 cfm carb, stock intake and duel exhaust, new stereo that works and has cd but comes out of home stereo speakers, i love the car accel is good braking is good, both are not great, but wen u get going it feels good, driving in the rain is fun, no weight in the back, turning 270 degrees at stop signs is not unsusual, is it? great collectors car, not very comon,Jan 03, 2008

Water leaking into cabin
When it rains, water puddles up in the passenger floor. I think I have found the problem. The fresh air vents below the windshield underneath the hood fills with water. Is there a cover that goes over this, or possibly a drain tube stopped up? Need help fast before I drown!
