its not really built to accelerate fast or anything its built to pull trailers and haul stuff so its not fast or anything like that but it will hold its own. this truck is a blast to drive i drive it every day.Dec 18, 2011

The performance is stock it till has the stock 350. the acceleration isnt the greatest but isnt bad for the size of tires i have on it. brakes arnt working that great. handleing isnt bad. It is built strong. Ive only had to put a clutch and windsheild into it the 2 yearsive had it. i put a new paint job on it but isnt the greatest tho. the interior is still stock except i did put a cd player. the gas milage is not very good but licensing and insuring is cheap. it is alot of fun to drive especially thro the mud.Nov 09, 2011

it's a good all around truck if you don't mind putting a little tlc in it. 4 wheel drive, diesel, gets pretty good gas mileage it's just a good all around truck. chevys rock ya!!!!!! i have to write 2 more words so here Feb 07, 2009

83 c20 2wd cross member 700r
6.2 diesel to carb 355, truck had 700r with diesel. My question is why is my cross member to far back to bolt up? Is it because the SBC is a shorter block? What should I do? I can move forward on passenger side. But driver has body mount in the way. I'm at a stand still with project any help would be appreciated

truck turns but doesn't start
i have an 83 chevy c20 with a 5.7 350. i recently bought this truck and it drove just fine,needed a little tune up but over all ok. the day it broke down i was driving my kids to school and it sputtered like it was going to run out of fuel but kept going fine after that. the fuel gauge was stuck on full so i didnt know how much is in it. about a few hours later i was driving to work and it stalled out,like it did run out of fuel. so i put 5gal of fuel in it and a little in the carb and it would fire with fuel in the carb,but after that it would just die and and turn over but not start. so i towed it home and assumed it was the fuel pump and replaced it. the previous owner told me to not used the selector switch and couldnt tell me why. so i replaced the selector valve by the tank so i can use both tanks. the switch in the cab broke when i tried to use it but after replacing the pump and the valve i still get the same results of it only starting if i put fuel in the carb. i put 5 more gals of gas in the tank but still nothing. i did notice that when i turn the key over i hear a loud clicking noise coming off some type of electrical part on the carb. am i skipping something? sorry this is so long,just want to give full detail of whats going on.
