1979 280zx 5 speed. Car starts . Barely idles. When I push accelerator, engine shudders and sometimes backfires through air flow meter. What coand old cause this?
Changed plugs, wires, fuel filter, and throttle valve switch.

this is a 1980 ZX280. i bought it when i was 17 and i didn't know anything about cars or restoration. it turned out that it was "repaired" with body filler and painted over. i realized i can't manage the build so i put it away to my dad's garage to wait when the time is right. the car was imported in early 90's by UN peacekeeper. it has fuel injected 2.8 with auto trans.Feb 21, 2013

it was a ok car i had a blast driving it. I like the independent front and rear suspention on the car and it was a 5 speed so it was a fun little car. It got great gas mileage and it was a very un known car so it got all kinds of attention.Feb 06, 2011

great car with heaps of power. strait 6 engine. great build quality. doesnt
squeak or rattle/. great awesome weighs about one and a half tones ...it
is a very fun car to drive. the only down side is the back will kick out
going around the corners... but thats fun

It looks good and drives like a dream. Although it is automatic, the kickback you felt when you put your foot down was something else!! Would definitely have another one but can't afford one at the moment. Lovely cars if you like this sort of thing.Apr 03, 2010

i Loved this car especially as i got given it in AQmerica. Ok its a Datsun but my god did it chip! Still actually own it in theory but well its somewhere in California lol. I like the bodystyle and i like the setup on this car .The performance isnt bad for an 81 datsun,but engine swap is soon to come.its a blast to drive and you cant keep it straight in the snow.Mar 16, 2009

It drives like a bullet, very fast. A straight 6 in a small car rocks.I've had that car up to 165 m.p.h. and it was as smooth as a fresh shave. Roomy inside and easy to work on, this car is a blast. If you find one for sale, you must buy it, you won't be dissappointed.Aug 01, 2008
