my 1978 280z sat in a garage 3yrs,wont start if it does it will only run for 5mintues or so,then it acts like it is running out of gas

Great driver but not practical, just as expensive to maintain as any vintage car.Love the car itself but hate its federal bumpers. Ity makes me and my loved ones smile.Great acceleration, average braking and handling.The S30 chassis is the Best Datsun and Z car made.Sep 27, 2010

I just love driving this car. The drive was just out of this world. You could just feel the road when driving this car. Just a raw sports car. I loved how easy it was to change the brakes on this car. I could do both disk breaks in 15 minutes. But I got ride of the car and boy do I miss itApr 30, 2010

I love the curves. The hips are my favorite. They slope back in a classic Aston way. I love where the door handles are too. The inline six is an amazing bit of gear. You just don't see those much any more. The car running on 5 cylinders, with blown rear shocks, and glitchy brakes is still fun to drive. I cannot imagine what it will be like when my Z is fully restored. Nov 21, 2009

in line six that pulls hard threw all the gears and the indipendnt suspension will keep you glued to the road. The best thing about this car is the technoligy under the hood. In 1976 had a full on bosch fuel injection system that still is used today!Aug 19, 2009

Removed the fuel injection and installed dual Weber carbs, headers, monza exhaust. Lowered the car with Koni shocks & springs. Installed a whale tale (don't laugh...it was cool in 1988). Oil cooler, B&M Trans Pack essentially made my automatic a manual.
When I was ready to install the fender flares and get it to the paint/body shop..I blew the engine racing a vette. ;-(

most cars in the 70 had a bad rust prolobem. so be carefull when buying a car from that era. great looks, amazing interior, and it had a solid motor. buy one only if your have to time to put in to it.Jan 17, 2008

Car is blowing out a lot of smoke and stalling out. Why is the car doing this?
I have a 1978 Datsun 280Z. The car was running fine and perfect and one day it stalled on me and would not start back up. I changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter. The car now starts, but is blowing out a lot of smoke and it smells like fuel. If I drive it, it stalls and will not pass 10 miles per hour along with a cloud of smoke behind me that looks like I am fumigating. What could be the problem and how do I fix this.
