1977 Toyota Cressida Preview summaryImage

The 1977 Toyota Cressida, Toyota's luxury sedan, did not change for the model year.

The 1977 Toyota Cressida came as a wagon or a sedan. It had a 2.6-liter, 115 horsepower six cylinder. Some of the standard features included air conditioning and an AM/FM/cassette player with an amplifier, both of which were unusual standard features for the times. The 1977 Cressida came standard with an automatic transmission, but a five-speed manual was also available.

The Toyota Cressida got good reviews for its high-end interior and famously quiet ride. Drivers say they have held up well over time and offer a very comfortable ride. However, some found the fuel economy to be poor, and many have had a problem with rust.

Mechanics are bullet proof, but the metal is bad quality. Performance-wise it's not a bad car, it won't win many drag races, but has fairly good roadholding for a 70's saloon. They get faster as more metal dissolves. :pJun 17, 2009
