Ordered a starter for my mg and it looks a lot smaller than one I took out. Are there different sizes?

I love these cars. Being British cars, they have their faults. The ignition system should be immediately replaced. Also do a thorough inspection of the electrical wiring. Other than those typical problems, these are great cars. I taught both my kids to drive a manual transmission in these.Apr 17, 2013

Most important is it gets 32-36 mpg. It is a pleasure to drive because of the handling. It needs no repairs of any kind, no rattles or noise of any kind. It does not smoke on start up or down shift.Jan 12, 2011

This car was sitting for 6 years before i got it, after little tweaks here and there she fired right up! Other than the breaks not working and havening to deal with the Lucas electrical system this car is great! Jul 06, 2008

What can I say? It's British, and it's over thirty years old. The thing is always breaking down. Even so, it still runs, somehow. It probably should have been put down about fifteen years ago.May 10, 2008

its a project car that SHOULD have been done by now but I haven't touched it in a good while. It is convertible. One weird thing about this car is that it has 3 windsheild wipers instead of just two...and its British.Jan 02, 2008

when i start my 1977 mgb it ticks over ok then the revs start to climb the pistons in the carbs lift themselves they have the right amount of oil and grade
when i start my mgb it ticks over ok but after a min the revs start to climb if i unscrew the carb dip stick and lift it and replace it the revs die back down again for a few mins then climb again the pistons are lifting by themselves

engine problem
After driving car 4 a short time or when it reads normal temp I can't shut it off and when I do get it turned off, it will not start. Took off fuel line at carbs and I have fuel. If I let it set till it cools down, it starts up fine. Here is what I have done 2 try 2 correct problem: rebulit carbs, new fuel line, added new low pressure elec fuel pump. Also replaced filter before pump and the one on the engine fire wall before carbs. I noticed the fuel line seems 2 get very hot. Car only has 40k orginal miles
